Wow...I've seen some good HID retrofits and some bad ones. If I'm in my K5 it's not a bother because I'm high enough not to have the lights drilling a hole in the back of my head if they are behind me. Now same dude with poorly setup HIDs behind me in my 2wd S10 DD and I'm ready to pull him over and beat the snot out of him. Nothing but a blinding wall of light hitting all three of my mirrors reflecting into my eyes. That's with deep tint on the side and back glass.

I've done the relay and H4 conversion on my K5 and switched from sealed beams to composites on my S10 with relays as well (97 didn't have relays either) and aimed right, they have a LOT of focused light output without pissing off other drivers. I wrote most of that DIY article on Jeff's site listed early on in this thread and with mine done I've yet to be pulled over by the police or get flashed by oncoming drivers with only my low beams on. Now If I throw on the 100watt H1's that are part of the lower housing of my H4 conversion bulbs I'll double my light output down the road but it's so much I'm guaranteed to get flashed if I was dumb enough to leave them on with oncoming traffic. Those are strictly off road or no-oncoming traffic use..

i have h4 lenses on my round eye, dont know what bulbs but i can see great. it sjust what my dad had sitting around from 5 years ago. i like the flat lens. i may try relays but dont feel like its needed. my buddy just has cheapy sealed beams and runs them on high beams all the time. just angled them down. makes the low beam pretty useless though

Like I said, all I have is relays and silverstars, they are plenty bright for me!

When you guys say you have the silverstar lights, is it the H1/H4 style or the entire stock style lamp?

I'd like to upgrade the dump with the relays and silverstars, but want to keep it cheap and simple. I'll probably do the relays first, as the current lights are so dim that a flashlight is brighter.

crashz, been a few headlight threads and it seems that most everyone who says silverstars just grabs the off the shelf silverstar sealed beams. Personally I hate the color temperature they run at and I have H4 conversion lenses in my truck, they are affordable and have way more bulb options.

Yeah the easy upgrade is silverstar sealed beams next step up is a h4 swap with relays.Another thing to think about is dash lights you can swap in led lights and be able to read all the gauges at night its nice too.

anubisani, if you get a chance, can you take a few pictures similar to the others posted above by kikkegek? I.e. a reasonable distance from a vertical wall, lows and highs. Maybe some down a stretch of road with no other ambient light? I am curious how they look from the driver's perspective.

Thank you, are the wall pictures low or high beam? They do put out quite a bit of light.
