Re: 72 GMC LWB Rear Tank Suggestions

Got the tank, straps and license plate frame. I did a mock up of installing the tank and it looks like I will need to get my exhaust pipes adjusted so I can get the tank mounted.

Tanking it in tomorrow to see what can be done to get it fit. The exhaust pipe hangars are right where the tank needs to be so I can strap it to the frame properly. Hopefully should be something that just need to be bent a bit to get it to fit.

Re: 72 GMC LWB Rear Tank Suggestions

Well I attempted to install the camaro gas tank and it sat a bit too low for my taste. It was not very visible from the bumper but from the sides it looked to sit too low.

I had to use a 2" space and placed them running across the frame for the tank to fit. I have leaf springs so where they hinged to the frame caused me to use the 2" spacer.

Now I am looking to sell the camaro tank and get a boyd tank instead. I will need to measure it out and see if it will sit any lower than the camaro tank just to make sure.

Long day of trying to get this to fit today and it ended up not looking as good as I thought.

Re: 72 GMC LWB Rear Tank Suggestions

I got the fuel cell from Boyds.

Any suggestion on what to use to remove the crossmember on the frame? This was there from when the truck had the spare tire underneath the bed. Would an angle grinder be enough or should I use something else?

I'd love to see the smaller brother's tank installed. I want the rear tank for a number of reasons but don't like seeing it hang down.

Re: 72 GMC LWB Rear Tank Suggestions

If anyone is interested I am selling my camaro fuel tank that I originally bought. After a couple attempts of installing I realized that I would prefer the boyd tank instead.

You can find more info on my link in the classified: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=629408
