Where was your truck born??

Thought it might be fun to see what plant has the highest survival rate. Sort of a poll. Climate and production numbers I'm sure will play a part here. I've got my money on Freemont being most common. Here's a site if ya don't know to help. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/Chevyear.html

I'll start, my old unit was born in JANESVILLE.
Update: as of 8/25
Atlanta- 9
Baltimore- 10
Flint- 9
Janesville- 7
St louis- 18
Terry town- 1
Freemont- 41
Oshawa- 4

Re: Where was your truck born??

St. Louis. There's a fair chance that it's never been more than 600 miles away from there.

Re: Where was your truck born??

My 68 GMC C20 was made in Flint Michigan but looks like it spent it's entire life in California. Is there a way to find out which dealership originally sold it?

Should have made this thread a poll so it tracks the results.

Re: Where was your truck born??

I'm guessing you would have to trace back to the original owner?

It may show on the build sheet if you can find it in the truck somewhere.

Related sidebar: I have three vintage Pontiacs that were all built in the Pontiac Michigan assembly center.

All three of them now reside less than 9 miles from where they were "born".

I'll start, my old unit was born in JANESVILLE.
My truck is a cheesehead too. Actually both trucks that made up my mutt were born there. The 1971 chassis is from Janesville as is the 1970 cab some cowboy in Wyoming put on the 4x4 frame.

That is all I can decode. The cowboy that slapped it together kept the titles which I have photocopies of to keep the MN state people happy. The interior is 1968, 50th anniversary white and gold and the tail gate appears to be that golden anniversary color. I only found enough of the build sheet in the seat to confirm the 50th anniversary code. Not enough remained to determine the build location. The 350 that I made a 383 is out of a KC built 1971 Monte Carlo. The tranny and xfer came out of a 1972 Blazer - I didn't bother to get a VIN on that vehicle the dude was dismantling. The bed that I purchased dismantled over in cheesehead land was said by the PO to come out of Colorado. Again - no clue where that was originally built.

I did say it was a mutt. Didn't I?

Maybe we should have a thread about who has the most unoriginal, original looking truck. The most opposite of survivor.

Mine was ordered at Spedding Chevrolet in Denver Co. It was built in St Louis and moved California a year after delivery. I'm the second owner and good friends with the first.
