New knob is on the left, original 1971 knob is on the right.

I have a 72 how do I know what threads are on the shaft? I don't have a thread measuring tool.

If your shift rod is stock 67-70 it would be 3/8 and 71-72 would be 7/16. If you don't have a thread gauge or micrometer. I would stop at a hardware store and buy a 7/16 fine thread nut just to verify.

Ya prob a good idea. Are they identical to the original, looks the same in the picture.. Any differences? I'll grab a nut and confirm the pitch.

They are a 1/16 of an inch larger than the 67-70 knobs and 1/8 of an inch larger than the 71-72 knobs. The engraving is spot on.
