I put the full sized version of this on my old '74. I found the skinny rim a bit uncomfortable (to my liking, anyhow). I found a '79 Corvette wheel on ebay, that came with all of the horn button/adapter hardware, and it looks great. It is a 14" diameter, but leather wrapped. I don't have a link, but search '79 Corvette steering wheel and it should pop up.

I'm going to start with this one, but I have the same concerns about the thickness. My next option will be the 70's Firebird wheel. I see that they are making a really nice reproduction of that one now.
