Re: How many '60 and '61 "Ugly Snout" trucks survive?
Here,s my 61. Came off my uncles farm in Nebraska. I guess that makes me the 2nd owner. Original wheels, not sure if original tires, hubcaps being painted this winter. 235, 4 speed granny. He splurged for the turn signals, spotlight and radio!

Have you done some restoration work on this truck?

Don't know about survive but my 60 does exist still. I don't know about the rest of the truck but the gmc hood survived and is going on my later chevy.

Re: How many '60 and '61 "Ugly Snout" trucks survive?
Yes. It was heavily rusted around headlights, A pillars, rockers and front quarter panels. The underside of the rest of the truck had 1 to 2 inches of Nebraska clay for under coating. The frame, floor etc. were like new. It took two years to get it to this point. The seat was refoamed, my uncle was 6' 4" and 250. I didn't like sitting in the dent where he sat all those years. The seat cover was made locally out of snow mobile grade vinyl to match fairly closely the well worn original cover. My labs ride every where I go.

Well, I picked up this 61' Apache Big Back Window and Short Bed. I come from the Off Road side, so this would be my first project of its kind. I am absolutely terrified but excited to say the least. ''El Puerco''
Oh, and the hood is awesome. Nothing ugly about it ha! |
