BBC valve cover clearance

Will my tall covers clear firewall or should I trim?

Mine fit. Very close, but they do not rub. If you are going to use a vacuum booster on the brakes you will need a dual diaphgram unit. The stock booster is too large.

Mike:

That air cleaner is a Holley #64280. Jegs, Summit or direct from Holley. A bit pricey, though.

Wow that is close. Can I weld up & paint the heater/AC holes on passenger side before I get my aftermarket air?

I did. The aftermarket air boxes tuck up under the dash but be prepared to say 'goodbye' to your glove box. After it's in there is just 2 inches for depth.

Re: BBC valve cover clearance

In my Camaro I had to reform the back of the cover to clear the factory booster, but you've got a narrow dual diaphragm so I'm going to guess you'll clear ok.

Huh? The pics were for the OP who has a similar tall deck block. My truck has been finished since 2008 so I really don't need any advice on whether things fit. We're talking about tall valve covers on a tall deck block clearing the firewall in a truck. Who cares about a Camaro?

Re: BBC valve cover clearance

Thanks for the info Fitz, I'm thinking going with a hydraulic booster. Going to start welding my firewall up.

The brakes are a choice, the welding is a skill and these trucks are just a kick! Enjoy your truck, when it is finished, that big block is going to really scream.
