Question Driveshaft center support bearing HD-style???

Hello everyone,
I´m in trouble to find the correct driveshaft center support bearing for my 1970 C20. The spare parts I`ve found are looking different. Maybe someone have the same bearing at his driveshaft and can help me.

Thank you,

Henning

Re: Driveshaft center support bearing HD-style???

theres 2 different styles, yours (i think found on longbeds) and another style ive seen on shortbed 2 piece shafts. i think you need to specify a longbed or horseshoe style

Re: Driveshaft center support bearing HD-style???

Hi there!
I went thru the same thing with my '69 3/4 ton, GMC, and it sure looks the same. HD suspension optioned on the SPID maybe? None of the regular supply houses listed the correct setup in thier parts books. None of the said "attendants" had a clue. Dealership was no help, of course. I went to "Joint, Clutch & Gear", a specialty shop I had been in before for some driveshaft And third member work. They knew immediately what I needed, had the correct parts, and turned me around in no time. They do quality work and also seem to be very knowledgable. Had to wonder why the heck I didn't go there first?

The below picture is for truck arms/coil springs rear suspension, while the one you showed is for leaf spring suspension.

Re: Driveshaft center support bearing HD-style???

The problem is that I`m coming from Germany and the C20 is not very common in Europe. Does anyone know a online ressource for this bearing who ships to Europe?

not always true, my 67 longbed c10 coil spring had the horseshoe type center support bearing. honestly i think it depended on where your truck was born

I replaced mine. Here is a link to the thread. I took a picture of the box that has the Neapco part # on it so it can be cross referenced.

Re: Driveshaft center support bearing HD-style???

Also, if you take it apart and measure it you can probably find a suitable replacement part # at RockAuto.com that may be relatively easily acquired even in Europe.

Pick '69 Chevy C20 and then Driveshaft center support bearing and see all the options.

EDIT: Found this cross reference chart that should make it easier!

Re: Driveshaft center support bearing HD-style???

Having fun trying to find this now! LOL Here is a link showing the SKF part #, same as the Neapco, but for a 2010+ Cadillac and Saab 9-3. This was on the cross reference on that other page.

But as usual, use your calipers to confirm fit.

https://www.powertrainindustries.com...68p7heo3so85h0

Jegs also shows the AC Delco part in stock.

Re: Driveshaft center support bearing HD-style???

This spring, Ireplaced mine on a 1970 GMC 3/4 ton with leaf springs and a 4 speed. I bought the center bearing from NAPA auto parts. They have online store, but I don't know if they ship international. From memory, mine looked like that. I can look up pictures and the part number if you need it.
gutten tag,
Dave

Re: Driveshaft center support bearing HD-style???

I guess I can't help you. Mine is different. Maybe my picture will help you to not buy the wrong part. NAPA only listed 2, one like mine and one like the picture above.
maybe there is a difference between manual and automatic transmission. I know mine has solid mounted u-joints on the transmission and axle. The slip joint is at the center carrier bearing. And the center u-joint is transmission specific. The first u-joint I bought did not fit and I found out 3 speed and 4 speed manual use different u-joints.

Re: Driveshaft center support bearing HD-style???

The parts stores don't show the HD part in the books. It took awhile for me to find mine, BUT if you will look at the link to my other post above, it does help by showing EXACTLY the same setup and the bearing to fix it. And I linked to a cross reference chart that shows all the other bearings that will work as well.

Re: Driveshaft center support bearing HD-style???

My experience with my truck and the same HD bearing support he has is that the others that the local auto parts stores had in the system would NOT bolt up without fabricating new mounts. Using the Neapco part # n212050x and cross-referencing that he should be easily able to obtain a replacement that will bolt right in.

Re: Driveshaft center support bearing HD-style???

Hello everyone,
after searching the web for a supplier who ships to Europe I found the neapco bearing at finditparts:
http://www.finditparts.com/products/...eapco-n212050x
Shipping to germany is about 60$ so I ordered two bearings.

Thank you again,

Henning
