Re: 71 4x4 k20 Commercial truck Questions

Hey Thanks for the compliments! I had my notifications turned off and haven't logged in for a while. My buddy and fellow 67-72 nut (who also works in our shop) has a lead on a set of 16.5 X 8.5 wheels with nubs on them. Hopefully they are the right ones. Currently we have both spindles off the truck and the axles out. Replacing bearings, u-joints etc. The truck didn't need ball joints or tie rod ends which was a nice surprise. I'm thinking the 50K that the previous owner told us it had on it is accurate. It got the rotors turned and a new set of pads are waiting to go in. We found we need to rebuild the carb and replace both rear axle seals as well as the pinion seal. It's up on our old twin post hoist in the shop. I'll snap some pics in the morning and put up.

Thanks for this info. If I go to 16' rubber this will be good to know.

Re: 71 4x4 k20 Commercial truck Questions

Just wanted to post a couple update photos. Chad is getting after the front of the truck and doing a great job putting it back together. There was a lot of crud in the axle tube and the spindles have been hammered on and marked up but still usable after some work.

Im digging that 2 tone color. Jealous of that power steering option. Don't be afraid to put er to work. Mine's not to afraid to break a sweat once in a while. Good luck with the new ride.

Re: 71 4x4 k20 Commercial truck Questions

Thanks for the compliments, I have put her to work a little bit this summer. With the skid steer in that trailer the factory overloads didn't even touch. I keep telling the guy's in our shop to put our Boss V-Plow on the front but they don't want to do it, too nice a truck to plow snow with they say...Nice truck by the way jimmq, those wheels and tires are exactly the look I would like but with factory hubcaps.
