Transmission Controlled Spark Thermal Plug

I know everyone will scream WHY! when I ask this, but does anyone know what the part number was/is , or where I can buy the thermal switch that screws into the passenger side head that was part of the TCS system? I have a 71' Super Cheyenne 350 4bbl/TH350 that is 100% stock with 99% of everything working on it, other than me not being able to find this thermal switch to complete the TCS system and the truck. The TCS switch on the tranny was easy to find, but this switch I can't find anywhere.

I know it cuts fuel mileage, probably would hurt more than help,is regarded by most as useless, and probably wouldn't even work as intended but I'm a purist I guess and not being able to find this is driving me crazy. I found one on a Corvette parts site for the 71' Vette, but it operates a little different. I've looked everywhere and can't find one or the part number. If anyone knows how to help, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat as you. I need one of those switches also. I guess there are a few of us purist around. I believe that although the switches look like a temp switchs they open the circuit when they reach temp as opposed to the temp switch that closes the circuit at temperature. If you get a part number let me know.

Have you tried LMC, they seem to have most of the other switches.

I've tried LMC to no avail. I really doubt that it is still maufactured. I was surprised Advance Auto didn't have it. It's amazing what they carry for our trucks mechanical wise. I think I might call that Vette place that sells the one for a 71' Vette and see who the manufacture is. I would think if they make it for the Corvette, they would make it for other models also?

I am fortunate to live in Kansas City, so if I need anything I just drive over to LMC, Chevy Duty, or Jim Carter. It's sad what I've spent with those 3. Thanks for the idea though!

Take a look at the one for the Chevelles. It looks like the right one. Ground Up Restorations have them, PN GAC-660.

If it is the sorta temp gauge looking screw-in part, then I can look for the part number tonight. I just happen to have a 1970 version that will not be going back on.

Does the wire powering the tcs have 12v constant when running? Can I use it to power my hei distributor? It seems fat enough..
