convert 67 C30 to K30?

I have a 68 K20. I want to buy a very nice looking 67 C30 and convert to 4wd. I want to use the parts from the 68 and keep the 1 ton suspension. I feel like this is a foolish question, did they ever make a K30 dually? I'm wondering what would be easier, move the body onto the K20 frame and swap the suspension, or ......swap the front axle, install the xfer case and crossmember, cut a hole in the floor

Thanks,

Joe

I don't think there was a dually one ton until the square trucks sometime after 74-5 ish. Jim

The frame would be more stout under the c30. It is less work to stick axles under the 68 4x4 frame, but the frame isn't as strong. Especially if you are planning on a diesel.

That's the direction I was leaning towards. How hard would it be to throw a transfer case under a 2wd? Is there room for a cross member on a 2wd frame?

Re: convert 67 C30 to K30?

Yes there is as they are the same width until the bed area. On a 4x4, the frame stays straight all the way back from the front cab supports all the way to the rear. 2wd rear sections change widths. For the front suspension, you can swap components from the 68 over to the 67. I took a C30 c&c frame and converted it to 4x4 for my crew cab build.

Whats a c&c frame? I don't suppose you have pictures of the frames you used or maybe have a build thread? Ahh I think I see it, the 72 Cheyenne super?

Cab&Chassis. No 1ton 4x4s of any kind in the 67-72 years. The k/20 was king of the castle in the 4x4 trucks.

Any K30 would of been a Napco conversion. There's pictures somewhere on the forum.
