1967 Truck A/C Question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I was looking a for an A/C dash in the Brothers and LMC catalogs and they both show 1968-72 but no 1967.

I'm wondering if the 1967 trucks even came with A/C.

I can't figure out why the 1968 dash wouldn't be the same as the 1967.

Anybody have any idea why they would be different?

BTW, I Googled and didn't see anything that helped.

67s were offered with the C60 air conditioning.

The Truck Shop www.truckandcarshop.com lists their control heads as fitting 67-72.

Southern Kentucky Classics www.sokyclassics.com also lists 67-72.

I have a 67 w/ air. cannot tell any difference from my 68 w/ air...

The 67's had a "one year only" ignition switch that is much smaller than the 68-72. That may be the reason, they didn't want to tool up a whole new dash stamping for just the 67 ignition switch, so they're listed as 68-72. You can just use a 68-72 ignition switch, or cut out and weld in one for a 67.

Do you actually need a new dash? It's easy to cut the vents into these dashes, there's even templates floating around... If your radio area is trashed, you can replace that with a repro patch and cut the holes for A/C out.

I'd like to thank everyone for their responses. I couldn't imagine '67's w/o A/C (thanks SSTim and 68Gold/white for clearing that up) but didn't understand the missing year in the catalogs. 67ChevyRedneck's explanation of the ignition switch was a real eye opener. I'm now going to track down some templates. I haven't started my truck restoration yet since I'm trying to gather parts and get my plan together to make this as smooth as possible. Thanks all! Gary

You can see the size difference. I also forgot about the cigarette lighter, it's really small on 67's and huge on 68-72's.

Jesse is correct. That is the only things I know that are different on them. My 67 I had for a short while had factory AC and over drive.

It sucks not being able to hear! LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB! After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
