1961 chevy apache 10 life long project
Getting my old girl going again after life's ups and downs kids and marriage finally got time occasion to tear into her. Owned since I was 12 years old handed down to me from my great grandfather. Drove all through High school and years after, has sat for 8 years now. Cleaning up all my sub par high school fixes, complete rewire sand and paint and body work with help from my 5 year old daughter

I like the look of the grill. It should work well with most any body color.

Nice, good to see people building parts instead of buying them

Matter of necessity. Can't afford to buy new parts for everything. A little more gratifying too

Re: 1961 chevy apache 10 life long project
WELCOME !!!!
If it's a family affair...... Seeing as this has been in the family this long, your daughter may be driving it to high school, you may as well do the fixes so that she can drive it in 10 years, trust me, that does not take long. Grille, yes, I like it. Depends on your ultimate plan for the truck, but those colours can stand alone.

Re: 1961 chevy apache 10 life long project
Got power brake booster bolted up and bled , Took driver side door off for rust repair, was a little worse than I thought it was going to be but will be nice to have all solid metal. Found a cool picture of my great grandfather and grandma in 1972 with my uncles with my 61.. Cool to know the history of my truck

Re: 1961 chevy apache 10 life long project
Very cool to have a truck with family history. I noticed that in the picture your 61 has a 64-66 grille, was it possibly in a small front end accident?

Re: 1961 chevy apache 10 life long project
It must have been but all the other sheet metal is factory as best I can tell. The grill in the picture was on it until this rebuild project. Found a 61 grill in junk yard for 50 bucks cleaned it up. I think the four headlight grills look more at home with the pod style hood
