5.3/4l80e question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

When I originally did the 5.3 swap I kept the th350 trans and now I have replaced it with a 4l80e. My question is will I be able to move the truck in and out of the garage without performing the segment swap? I haven't decided on which route I will be taking with the whole tuning software deal and I just need to move the truck around. I will not be driving it on the street just in and out of the garage on occasion when/if needed.

Yes. If the big circular connector is disconnected, the transmission will still go into park, neutral, and possibly reverse normally, but shifting it into Drive will put it locked into second.

Getting it out of the garage will be easy as it is downhill, I just need some sort of forward power to get it back in the garage.

You'll be able to limp it forward, just don't make it see much load.
