hidden hitch not fitting right

Got a cpp hidden hitch, the one that goes up the side of the rail.Half the bolt holes didnt line up despite following instructions.I had to drill holes as far back as it goes on the rail. The problem I now have,is the receiver hole is set in too far from pics that I see on this forum.Do I have to buy a extra long ball hitch? Also the ball hitch I do have is one I had for years doesnt fit in the receiver hole.Very tight.I tried to clean it up a bit and also sprayed the crap out of it with WD40.Had to hammer it in and had a ***** of a time getting it out.Has anyone had these problems before?
