75 GMC Beau James swb? I've never heard of one so maybe someone could educate me? I'm guessing it was a trim package that is nonexistent at this point on the truck. Nice large SPID.
https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/...376871804.html New crate motor with cam and geardrive...new exhaust...runs and drives strong very collectable..will trade for nice ski boat or car or truck lets see what you got..this 75 beau james is the top 10 most collectable truck in the world only 200 ever built after a famouse movie..7500 cash

Re: Post your C/L finds here for all to see
right up there with Gentleman Jim
However, even though that one was born as a swb per the SPID, it sure looks like it's been hatcheted at some time in its life. Is it my imagination or is that notably shorter than a swb..? |

Re: Post your C/L finds here for all to see
I think that Beau James has been for sale for a long time, since spring or maybe even before that. Obviously the way it sits right now isn't to everyone's tastes, but still, that's a long time for something to sit.

Re: Post your C/L finds here for all to see
Everything that made it special is gone anyhow. Probably not even much point in advertising it as a Beau James. No hood ornament, no wire wheels, and no decals or special edition paint. It's just another hot rodded SWB. Still cool though.

Re: Post your C/L finds here for all to see
Depends on how you look at it I guess. Kind of a modern day Ship of Theseus.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_of_Theseus To me, everything that makes the truck what it is is in the VIN. I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do with my truck, but it'll never look like it did when it was new, I know that much. It'll always be a Street Coupe to me though because its VIN says so. Kind of brings an interesting question, which is better - a real Beau James that has been modified so extensively that nothing BJ is left, or a regular everyday GMC that has been made into a Beau James clone? Neither one is really what they say they are.

Re: Post your C/L finds here for all to see
Kudos on the reference haha. There's a lively/spirited debate to be had there, for sure.
In my humble opinion it ain't a special edition anything anymore. Everything that set it apart, aside from the VIN of course, has been stripped and may be lost forever. It's the start of a nice little street truck without a doubt. Didn't even know they made a SWB Beau James. As silly as it may seem, I'd dig something like that 150% more if he'd kept the hood ornament on the truck. Homage to roots and all that. And just to be clear, I'm ALL for modding stuff to suit one's personal taste. My stable is as varied and eclectic as they come. You'd think I was a schizophrenic with all the weird stuff I deem worthy of piloting. |

Re: Post your C/L finds here for all to see
Speaking of which - here's a 77 K20 Bonanza Camper Special. Yes, my favorite combo, maybe just not my favorite paint combo - but I do kinda like it. I passed on this truck back when I lived in Mesa several years ago (different seller in Prescott, I THINK) - that's the only reason I can think of that I did though (color combo just not for me) - it even has slots. $5200.

Nice rig.
I Really don’t care for those aftermarket grills, so much so I don’t even look at trucks that have em. Factory grills in good shape are not so easy to buy. You can find them but shipping em is a pain. |

Re: Post your C/L finds here for all to see
I know what you mean. And the aftermarket tube grills seem to be common - so I’ve got a stock grille in my barn just in case . Frees up truck purchase options!
