1967 GMC Camper Cruiser Carb Problem

I am the second owner of the above truck. I have read some old posts talking about converting the Stromberg carb to a Holley using an adapter of some kind. I am wondering if anyone has experience with this. It has the original 351 V-6 engine. I appreciate any thoughts/suggestions. Thank you.

Re: 1967 GMC Camper Cruiser Carb Problem

The problem is most of the 351 and larger GMC V-6's use a Stromberg WWC model 2 bbl., and it has a very unique bolt pattern. Years ago, NAPA sold an adapter to replace the WWC on the V-6's with a Holley 2300 2bbl., but those adapters are now hard to find. The good news is that it's not too hard to fab a suitable adapter up. The guys on the 6066GMC website should be able to help. BTW- I run a 500 cfm Holley 2bbl. on my 351E, and it is a big impovement over the Stromberg.

Re: 1967 GMC Camper Cruiser Carb Problem

Thank you - I will do some research. Do you know how many of these were made? Mine is a 4-speed, no A/C. I believe it was purchased in Washington state and ended up here in Kansas. I have toyed with selling it, as I have not done anything with it in the 20+ years I have owned it. Been inside all of the time. I just cannot seem to either sell it or restore it. I just drive it here on my farm. Thank you again for your help.

Re: 1967 GMC Camper Cruiser Carb Problem

If you believe that there is some problem with the carburetor, be sure to sort through the threads about carburetor problems that were determined to be ignition problems, in the end. If it turns out to actually be the carburetor, there are people who can overhaul it properly to make it work like new. In this case, I would recommend Cliff Ruggles. He's famous for his Quadrajet work, but knows his way around any carburetor.
