Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Yeah, I've been slowly building up the courage to work on it again Looking into an engine wiring harness, but I've come to find out that the computer I have is more expensive to get a harness for, and they may have to charge me for a new eprom. Man I have really turned this project into a nightmare!

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Ok all. Still not a lot of progress to report, but I have put together another small checklist of items that I need to complete to call the chassis done. The list is rather embarrassing as it's only a few items.
Front calipers Front Brake hoses Driveline crossmember Spring nuts Driveline Rear brakes Rear pinion bolt I am planning on tackling these small items to start to build up the momentum needed to get this thing closer to the "finish" line! |

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Not a very exciting update today, but I did manage to get the rear brake drum off I went and bought new pads, shoes and rear brake hardware only to find out this axle came from a DRW with 3-1/2" shoes...so back to the parts store I went. Then once I got everything pulled off, I can't just spray it with brake cleaner and put it back together. It's supposed to be nice the rest of the weekend, so I'm going to try to get the rears cleaned and painted. I just need to get something put together so that I can build some momentum on this.

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Ok, so cleaning the garage has bit me again! I threw out some much needed brake hardware, and guess what? It seems like the anchor pin has been discontinued. Time to round up parts again. If anyone knows where I might be able to find the anchor pin, ebrake arm, rod thingie that goes between the shoes and the pins that go in the wheel cylinder, that would be great
Here's a pic of the driver's side that I still have |

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
One small victory today! Got the brakes on the driver's side done, and was able to source the anchor pin for the passenger side! Small progress, but hey, it's progress.

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
I wonder if there is a difference between 69 and 76 rear drum brakes? I've got some brake parts laying around from a 76 K5 donor if they are the same.

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Was it a 14 bolt full floating rear? This axle is out of a newer square body. Yet another lesson learned...never throw anything away until the project is done LOL.

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Well, another delay is happening, but this one has more to do with the future home of the truck . We just bought a house that will have more room so that I can build my dream shop! I hope to have the shop done by the fall. This will definitely put a damper on forward progress, but I will have a little bit more room to work with as soon as we move. Hopefully I don't lose any parts in the transition

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
One can only hope Congrats on the new house! There is a shops and tools section on the site that you can post pictures/progress on your shop. I'd follow along.

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Well, here we are a year into the new home and the shop is coming along nicely. The framers took their sweet ass time, but it's finally getting electrical tomorrow. Concrete, stucco, and epoxy are the next big projects coming up. Soon the truck will have a comfy space to work on it!

Beautiful shop! How tall is your roll up garage door?

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Thank you!!! It's a 14'x16'. The garage was initially going to be big enough to fit my toy hauler in it, but where we wanted it on the lot wouldn't allow for it. We still made it a two story which is why the ceiling height ended up being so tall. I really wish it would have more floor space than ceiling space though
