Re: Are the GMC paint codes the same as those of Chevy in 1982?

Yep.

A GMC is a Chevy with RPO Z88 added.

Here is some additional (generic) info for 1982, from the GM Heritage Center archives:

https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/doc...olet-Truck.pdf

You really can't go by the noun name of the color, because there is a bunch of Marketing/Studio influence in the naming.

What color is "Verdian Joule"? (answer: silver)

How about "Silver Topaz"? (answer: blue)

There's Tuxedo Black, Midnight Black, Camaro Black, Black Diamond and "Pot meets Kettle" Black (I am not making that up).

"Hugger Orange" on a Chevy magically becomes "Carousel Red" on a Pontiac.

Anyway - that's why the paint code and the associated WA number are the definitive handles when referring to a color.

Oh - and computer monitors are famous for not representing the actual color.

Having said all that:

For the truck in the picture I'd have to go with Santa Fe Tan upper (60U, where "U" means "Upper", or primary) and Frost White lower (12L, where "L" equals "Lower", or secondary).

Lastly, depending on how interested or desperate you are - you can send your VIN and $50 to the GM Heritage Center and they will return to you the invoice for your specific truck.

It will include the exact RPO content, pricing, build dates and selling dealership. Then you would know absolutely positively for sure.

It will look like this:
