Re: Wish I could go back in time.
Hah! It was 1977 when I sat down and priced out a short bed Stepside K10 I almost ordered. I remember it coming out to 6 or $7k. I think base list was about $6k and I had $1k in options.

Re: Wish I could go back in time.
It's all relative I guess. I started at the pulp mill that year making 5.75 an hour. I bought a new Z28 a few years later for under 7 k if I remember right.

Re: Wish I could go back in time.
Looking at that guy reminds of how much I hate car salesmen (I have been around them nearly my entire life). My dad was a car salesman from the mid 60's until fairly recently. He tried a couple of other things along the way, mostly sales of some sort having to do with dealerships. His wife of almost 40 years passed a week ago and now he's talking about going back in to car sales part time just for something to do. He's in his 80s now.

Re: Wish I could go back in time.
Great ad!...and it would be interesting to do the math on the average earnings etc vs. the prices on the trucks to see how it compares to today.
all that aside tho'....I really love that guys outfit man, very groovy....sort of like going into the mens clothing store and ordering the newer highlander option for a sport coat and pants, lol. Coley

Re: Wish I could go back in time.
If Johnny made $6 an hour in 1975 and could buy any cool old vehicle for a few hundred dollars after paying his $175 rent..................
......................................would Jane still get half of everything?

Man, I love that tan GMC. Nothing like a late 70s/early 80s 4x4. The customization then looked so much better than the "squatting" and lightbars that the rich kids are doing these days.

Re: Wish I could go back in time.
I used think man I can’t wait to grow up. Then I did. Then I think boy if I could go back in time. I would tell myself blah blah. Now I think no way I want to go back through the childhood I had or all the working I did in my twenties. Although I wouldn’t mind bringing home a few trucks from the past.....

Re: Wish I could go back in time.
I'd go back in time to 1998, start buying .22 LR bricks, one a week (550 rounds if you don't know) like I actually thought about doing back then, and keep buying one per week, until 2014.
That's about $6.00 per week. By that time I'd have well over 500K rounds and when the utterly senseless run on all things gun-related happened, and .22 LR bricks got up to $100.00 per (as they did in 2014) I'd have cleaned up. I figured it out once, had I actually gone through what seemed like a stupid plan, I'd have made just south of $90,000 dollars on that little investment. So yeah, I'd love a time machine......for cars, guns, ammo, or founding certain websites like Facebook. |

Re: Wish I could go back in time.
Some want to go back to get things cheaper. Some want a vehicle, others want bullets, and I want to go back to all this

Re: Wish I could go back in time.
Me in 1976 on Midway Island (yes that Midway).
Then there is 1979 letting my flat-top grow out (not my car, just posin). I was on the Constellation at the time. Then there's 1980 maybe in Las Vegas, NV as a Navy Recruiter (somebody had to do it). I was forced to stay 1 year longer due to being successful. On that tour I was married, divorced, busted in rank and made rank (busy guy). That's where I got to get my first truck and the local dealership helped me get it painted (if I did the sanding). They gave a block and pile of paper, then more paper when that was done, then more . . . If I posted a pic of me now I'd have to worn you first.
