Thanks man. I was just reading through your thread yesterday. You’ve done so much to that truck. Your truck is still in my top 5 favorite trucks I’ve ever seen.

The second week I had her I did a few small things. Put the original style Trico wiper blades on, the previous owner had new cheap wiper blades, one without an adapter so it would turn sideways when you turned them on haha.
Next I fixed the reverse lights, I believe it still had the original bulbs in it. Someone had a fuse that was way too low an amperage rating. The glass twisted out of the base and I had to tear the base out in pieces. Put new ones in and they worked right away, I was lucky the socket itself hadn’t rusted. I also went ahead and wired up the marker lights, I know 68 didn’t originally have them but I figured “What the heck? The sockets are there.” I am going to change them back to the original solid ones someday though. And lastly I fixed the horn, I started tracing wires to find what was wrong, I figured whoever put the Camaro steering wheel it it didn’t wire it up. Turns out it was just unplugged under the dash. It was turned sideways and only one prong was plugged in. Plugged it in and the factory horn still worked. A day or so later I installed a oohga horn haha. I painted it flat black and tucked it away out of sight. I wired it up so there was no modification to the original wiring. Always gets smiles out of everyone.

The next thing I did was change the oil and put some new valve cover gaskets on, the old cork ones were hard as a rock and stuck pretty bad, and put on a new air filter.
Then I cleaned up the engine bay. It took hours to degrease it. Even the valve covers had a ton of grease on them. There is still, and I’m not even exaggerating, a solid inch of crud caked on the transmission, including grease covered mud dobber nests haha. Hey, free undercoating right? Here’s a before and a couple afters. It’s hard to tell to tell how bad it was in the first picture. I couldn’t believe how good the paint was still on the valve covers, heads and block. And that is after me scraping them with a metal gasket scraper for hours. I wish whoever put the 4 barrel on would’ve painted the manifold while they had it off.

A picture I took of the no options interior a month or so after I got her. And the little doo-dads I added to personalize it. I also put some decals in the back glass and gave them some “age”. The same on both sides.

Thanks a lot man. I love her just the way she is. I did give her a CLR bath though. That cleaned her up quite a bit without getting rid of the “patina”. I may post pictures of that tonight.
