Re: My new project the White Whale.

Well after about a year and a half at my friend John's shop the truck is home. It's running and driving but still needs a few more things to be safe and roadworthy. He installed a 5.3 out of a 04 Yukon, 2wd 4L60E, new stock gas tank, new cheapy ebay radiator, Dirty Dingo Motor mounts w/ classic performance motor mount perches, Modern Vintage wiring harness, CPP 3" lower front and 4" HD rear coils w/ new shocks, track bar and shock relocates. He also put in power steering. The truck runs great, starts right up, idles smooth. The brakes are still drum all the way around and are still manual. We are looking into disc front brakes with a power booster. Then it still needs the rest of the exhaust to be done as well. He also used the stock truck exhaust manifolds and just trimmed the frame to fit. He said it looked like someone already tried to do this in the past since the frame had already been trimmed in the same place before.

Looks like a nice install. Where did he put the ECM/PCM? Mine is on the passenger side fender well and it looks a little clunky there.....

Keep us posted on the next steps.

It is right next to the battery. In between the battery and radiator, tucked down nice and neat. You can barely see it until you get up close.

Will do, thanks Leon.

Very nice! I bet it feels good to have it home and mobile under its own power too!

Looks like a nice install. I still have dics brake front spindles, rotors and calipers and master cylinder taking up space in my garage. Let me know if you want them

Re: My new project the White Whale.

Thanks guys. It is great to have it home. At least I can spent 15-20 minutes here and there working on things when I have time. I work close to home and go home for lunch most days. Today I got the first door panel off. Almost every screw at the bottom of the door is either stripped or frozen in there. They have been fighting but I think I"m winning so far. My neighbor is going to recover the factory door panels for me to match the center console. Then he will redo the seats over next winter. One little step at a time.

Very nice to get them mobile again, especially under LS power!

Re: My new project the White Whale.

Still working on the truck here and there. Ordered a new front disc brake conversion kit, along with 2.5" drop spindles and a power booster. I'm looking forward to getting that installed so I can start driving this truck.

Got all the rear interior panels removed this weekend as well. I'm planning my audio install. There is tons of room to work with behind those rear cargo interior panels. I'm going to try and hide the whole sound system as best as possible.

Got the drivers mirror installed as well. To bad it vibrates all the time, its somewhat usable. Still need to drill holes and install the passengers side mirror.

Re: My new project the White Whale.

Got a little more done on the Suburban. Got the hole filled in the rear floor that someone had poorly cut for a gas filler. I had to make the hole a little larger to be able to fill it properly. This will now be covered by pre-finished hardwood flooring.

Looks good! A little glue or sealer around it will finish it off....

Re: My new project the White Whale.

Well I started mocking up the wood flooring and I don't I like it. I think I'm just going to go with black carpet instead. What do you guys think?

Re: My new project the White Whale.

Thanks guys that's what I was thinking as well. Eventually I plan on putting sound deadener in the whole truck. It's going to have it's brakes and power booster installed hopefully this weekend. Then all I need to do is get the front seats locked down and I'm ready to start driving it.

Re: My new project the White Whale.

The truck went to my buddies shop this weekend to have the front disc brakes and power booster installed. Hopefully I will be picking it up this coming weekend. Can't wait to drive this truck more than around my neighborhood.
