Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Thanks, My interior will be black and gray. So I was thinking maybe the seat will be mostly Black (even the back and sides) with the gray in the center where you sit. the top part will be black also with maybe the center part gray. If I can get a pick of my seat I can explain what I am trying to explain. I do not know what color stitching to go with. Black or the color of my project truck. It is called sunburst Orange.I would be going with cloth fabric. If I were to decide to take the plunge, what price would I be looking at?

Thanks for all the work you do, John

Unfortunately John, that would be a custom cover, which I don't do. The Charcoal or Black would be the closest. On both colors, the center & upper band are darker, than the rest of the seat.
Top 2 pics are Charcoal
Bottom 2 pics are the Black

Bellefontaine OH. About 45 mins NW of Columbus. I had a guy come up from TN, for a seat. We met at my Brothers place. He lives near Chillicothe, almost 2 hrs South from me.

1977-1980 Carmine Red. This was done for someone local, for his 1979 Chevy. Fully restored frame & tracks. New foam was used also.

I've worked for UPS & FedEx, those seats are too big and heavy for them to toss around (especially FedEx). 2 people have to handle them.

Doesn’t mean that can’t be damaged another way, hit with a forklift or something. I shipped a grille once, and that is exactly what it looked like, that it got ran over.

Depends on who you ship it with. Grills (light) are easy to throw around, throw on the floor, etc. That big heavy bench is big and bulky and hard to throw around. But yes it too could get damaged, but it is harder to damage because of the size and weight.

It's too bad you live so far from me I would bring you my seat and seat belts to use.

Saved a couple seats from being trashed. These will make good candidates for restoration. Both are 81-87 seats. Went to Indiana and got them.

Where in Indiana?

I made another trip to the junkyard today for an inner fender. The pass side inner fender on my truck is really bad, rubs the tire and has hardly any fasteners left to hold it in place.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Started stripping down the Tan seat. It had clearing been recovered by someone, at one time. I hope it wasn’t an Upholstery Shop, because this is not how it should be done!! This is not the correct way to repair foam. Broken springs need to be replaced. Ever wonder why your leaning towards the door, when you’re sitting in your seat? Broke springs are why!!
And they obviously didn’t know how to shoot bolts either🙄.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Picked up 3 more donors today. And a special surprise!! The Grille was laying inside of a Van, that was parked beside the truck I was getting the last seat from.
