97 regular cab short bed on 20’s
Truck came with them and tires were scuffed so went with a narrower 245 45 r20 but not really thrilled with the look. Truck has a Belltech 2/4 drop. I have been reading posts about mid 70’s rally wheels, 15X8, but seems there is grinding required on the lower control arm and possibly the caliper, which I don’t want to do. Suggestions appreciated and how do I turn the pics

Re: 97 regular cab short bed on 20’s
Are you thinking about lowering it more? Or just changing the rims & tires?

Re: 97 regular cab short bed on 20’s
I had a 90 GMC 20+years ago that was lowered about what you have. I had stock 8" rally's on it and didn't rub anything. I dunno what man. the kit was, possible with some grinding somewhere. But it's only 2", shouldn't have to do anything, that's not a lot. nice truck tho...

Nice truck, wish you lived closer , I would buy the wheels and tires from you. I really like the way it looks.

Yeah, cost prohibitive for sure. I am thinking mid 70’s Rally wheels without the wide trim rings.

Re: 97 regular cab short bed on 20’s
I found 4 square body 15x8 rally wheels so going to sell the 20’s Found a thread to adapt the GMC centres as well. Probably going to go with 255 70r15’s.

I really like those old school rally's, agree on the wide trim rings, but I do think the smaller ones look sharpe!!

Re: 97 regular cab short bed on 20’s
Also like the smaller narrower trim rings. The tabs on the ones that came with the wheels are heavily corroded so will need to find replacements.

Those should look pretty good on your truck. Can't wait to see some pics of the truck with the wheels mounted.

Re: 97 regular cab short bed on 20’s
You're welcome.
What is it about the paint you aren't happy with? Looks good in the pictures...

Re: 97 regular cab short bed on 20’s
The picture does not show it but where I removed the body side trim, the paint came with it in places. I am not changing the colour as it reminds me of a torch red C5 convertible I once had.

Re: 97 regular cab short bed on 20’s
Installed a Core short throw shifter yesterday and definitely a different feel. Still trying to find gears especially down shifting from 5th as I am use to the longer pattern. Overall happy at this point but need to figure out the size of a jamb nut, for lack of a better term, to position the shifter ball properly.

Re: 97 regular cab short bed on 20’s
Replaced the front bumper last week with a new to me version without the trim. Bumper has a decal indicating 1994 and I had the inner brackets with it which was a good thing. After I installed on the ones that came with the truck, major gap on the passenger side. Could not bring it in with any adjustments. Had a look at the 94’s and the top mounting hole was at least 3/4” closer to the rad support, for lack of a better description, then the ones that came with the truck. Installed the 94’s and everything fits well. Food for thought and I thought 88-98 would be the same.
