What's the super-nice, very-understanding, non-abrasive way to say it....right: It's not for everyone! The fleetside body line is literally half of what makes a 67-72 the beauty it is!

But I do agree that it's your truck and you should do what you like. There are fleetsides out there....

Re: post pics of 90 model stepside beds on 67-72

never had any experience with it, never even really seen a step side bed up close.

what about buying repop stepside fenders...and mating them with the 90's box?

or even litterally JUST the fender or wheel opening?

just looking at some pics, the beds dont look to bad when they match the wheel openings, either square or round, not both.

id never think about doing the swap though, for some reason i LOVE the back end of these trucks, especially the tail lights, i think i like it even more then the front sometimes....call me crazy

This guy has the step shavers.....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...3A1|240%3A1318

I'm not sure how to bond them but you might try contacting the seller to see what he says.

Re: post pics of 90 model stepside beds on 67-72

I have much the same choice to make. I have a 89 Sportside bed......
excellent condition and I had intended to install it on my 89 chassis (its
a 4X4 by the way) and I was considering swapping out the cab and front
clip to a 72 Chevy and get rid of the rusty 89 cab and front clip that
I have now.

My question is this........how hard would it be to do this? Has anybody
ever done this (that you guys know of?) I would be using all of my
original drivetrain....... engine, transmission (5 speed) and transfer case.

Will the 72 cab and front clip "bolt right up" ? Will my chassis have to
be modified?

Please tell me what you think !

I love this site ! So many different opinions and always interesting topics
to help us with our projects.

Yes you can do it and it has been done before i believe you have to install the body mounts and rad. support mounts from the 72 onto the new frame and measure everything up.

He cut the '96 bed loose from his '67 a week or so ago and has started prepping the frame to put the '68 bed on it.

Since we saw you we put a 454 in his '71 lwb stepper. The '67 has a I-6 in it.

Thank you for the great bed and the help.

I have a lot of things to do on my C10 69 but if I buy another truck for sure I would install on of the 90s bed. Great job everyone.

Re: post pics of 90 model stepside beds on 67-72

Is this possible to do with a LWB? I don't have the necessary tools to do any welding at the moment, so it would need to just bolt on. I've been wanting to put an updated bed on my 69 until I can afford to finish sand blasting and painting my original long step bed.

I like the look, the newer bed step lines up nice to the lower cab body line..
but they need the rear step shaved.
some hate it.. I don't have that issue, my long bed can't use it..

you would have to extend the bed there a pic of a streched one at the begining of the thread

Does anyone have pictures of mounts used when installing a later model bed on a 67-72 shortbed frame?
