It was a bit of a pain to find and I don't remember what town it was in but I know it's just north of Lynchburg. $1800 bought the truck the way it sat without the motor and if you bought it I'm sure you could sell off what you don't need. I'd be interested in the flatbed, extra cab and saddle tanks on it
I tried to find this truck but had no luck. Thanks for the heads up. Id like to have that small bunk also. Be nice to put that behind my 1977 359 Peterbilt.

I might have a body for you for cheap near Charlotte, NC. I'm goin to look at a 1972 gmc 5500 for parts this weekend. If the body is in decent shape I'll let you know.

Re: 1967 C-50 Dump truck Project

I ended up making a trip out to see DTKarst. I bought the cab, doors, and front end. Had a good trip with a couple friends and made a new one. Saw some cool stuff along the way. So 1800 miles later I'm ready to get busy.

Sorry for the sideways photo but I've been having issues with my phone importing photos and letting me edit them.

Had some time to spend on the Kansas Cab. Its in really good shape and will only need a few spots repaired before its gets bed lined and repainted.

I believe the cowl panels are the same between the C6500 and the C/10. We will see. I may repair the sides or replace the whole panel.

This hole doesn't look familiar.
Its the hole above the column mount. I'm frustrated with these sideways photos.

That's in really good shape considering it's age! Those rust spots all look easy to fix.

What is the lever for in the first picture you posted last night? The lever running across the transmission tunnel just behind the hole for the shifter. I'm still new to these old trucks and don't recall seeing that before.

Re: 1967 C-50 Dump truck Project

I have more photos but I'm still trying to figure out why the photos are sideways. The body is in real good shape. The rusty areas are those you expect to be worn or rusted.

I believe those levers where for some kind of hydraulic controls.I know when I worked for a company building dump trucks years ago,we would use something similar. This truck was apart when I bought it and I didn't happen to ask. Thanks for checking out the build!

Re: 1967 C-50 Dump truck Project

I have got a few things done on the truck since I last posted. I'm still trying to figure out why it's so hard to post photos. My computer keeps telling me the photos are insecure and wont let me upload them.

A couple more. And yes that angle piece is keeping the door from sagging.

Re: 1967 C-50 Dump truck Project

I thought I'd try to fit an OBS seat in the truck. It's a little tall but I can cut the seat mounts down.

Re: 1967 C-50 Dump truck Project

I have a problem uploading pictures sometimes too.

Looking good! I'm guessing it was sealed up either very well or not at all to allow the moisture to sit in there. I hope it's just surface rust you're going to have to deal with. Where was the truck from originally?

Not sealed up very well. The truck has a lot of rust. some of it is surface but most is deep rot. I went out to Kansas and bought the other cab and front end. It'll get swapped eventually but for now I'm trying to make this truck usable.

I bought the truck from central Ohio so i'm guessing it's been around that area for a while. It's rough. Some days I wish I had saved my money and other days I'm glad I'm saving another one from the scrapper.

Re: 1967 C-50 Dump truck Project

My old manifold was cracked beyond repair so i had the intake sand blasted and
I painted it and the driver side of the engine GM blue. It's similar to the factory color but I think it needed to be a little more green. I found a replacement exhaust manifold and got it installed.

While I was at it I removed the valve cover, cleaned and painted it and reinstalled it prior to doing the intake/exhaust manifold.

Re: 1967 C-50 Dump truck Project

I also started on the brake lines. The factory Rubber flex line had rotted through rendering the brakes useless. So I took the bulk head fitting off the frame and cleaned it before adding the new flex line. I then made a new cleaner/shorter line from the master cylinder to the flex line. Next I'll start replacing the other rotted lines.

Here's a few photos of the exhaust manifold. I'm not sure you can see where I had to clearance the manifold so the bolt could fit.

Re: 1967 C-50 Dump truck Project

I needed to have the down pipe remade and the exhaust shop didn't have the roof clearance to get my truck in on his rack so i had to wing it for the most part.

Here is a few a shot of the factory exhaust and how I think it was originally routed. It was a mess when I got it.

Thanks. I'm trying to save this ole truck but some times it seems I'm fighting an uphill battle. I have video of the new exhaust but I can't seem to get it to load.
