Re: $731,100,000
Saw that. Don't watch the news much but heard the other one is like a billion dollars. I buy tickets maybe 1 to 2x per year. Guess I'll have to pick a couple up and give 'er a try.

Re: $731,100,000
Sorry to say I kept my winning streak 100% in tact by not having either correct number on all 3 tickets.

I have an easier way to strike it rich. There's this Nigerian general who will give me $2 million if I just let him use my account to transfer money out of the country...

I have to ask. What would you do if you woke up to that kind of money?

Re: $731,100,000
Disappear. A friend has an entire write up on what you should REALLY do if that happens. I don't know, at that level it's a mirror misery from being poor, except when you're poor, the leeches are easier to spot and shed. Who do you trust? Who's ripping you off? How do you know? You'll need a lawyer, a financial advisor, and an accountant at a minimum. How do know what they're up to? A true pro at that level is gonna spot your Rube azz at 100 yards.
Let's face it, no one here has the slightest experience a that level. I literally know a guy who does, but even then. It's an interesting problem. The best and worst thing to happen. Best part of the advice I heard was, invest a % in income bearing bonds and mutual fund the lion's share of the principal. That way you never touch the principal, and the 200-300k/yr income for the next 20 years is more money in hand than most of the folks on this forum can imagine. (I know, some of y'all are rollin' pretty hard. Most of us ain't.) Just thoughts. Hmm. I'd like to find out!

Re: $731,100,000
Well, the government will take most of it in taxes so you won't have to worry about having too much to spend.
What a racket: government sells all those tickets and then when somebody wins they take back most of the money anyway

Re: $731,100,000
And it looks like the Mega Millions lotto is about to top 1 billion.
A lot of good things can be done with a huge win. Yeah taxes take a big bite out of it but there is plenty to cover all that.

Re: $731,100,000
Nothing different. I'd just carry on and hope the reality could sink in. I probably wouldn't spend any until I came up with a plan for how to use it...unless the electric or other utility was about to be cut off. Actually, with that much money I would first pay up all my debts immediately, then work on a plan for the rest. One thing I wouldn't do is tell a soul. Let's just say life would be different, mostly just a lot easier!

Re: $731,100,000
How long can it be kept a secret in a little town of 1200 folks? Assuming of course the ticket was sold to someone who actually lives in that community. I heard Maryland allows winners to remain anonymous too. Some states don't.
With that kind of winning putting together a team of financial advisors makes good sense. What they could save you could more than offset their fees I imagine. Everyone probably has a few worthy causes they'd like to give to. Spread your money out. Diversify. Buy a small town or two and improve on them a little. Build your own resort. And add a couple trucks. A man can always use a truck or two and a nice big building to house them. Buy a piece of land and have your own air strip. Maybe have FedEx deliver your parts by air to your door. Yeah, now that's a plan! What would you do?

Re: $731,100,000
I guess my reply was boring. I could go on about what I'd do once I had my 'spending money' sorted out. I would definitely use some to be helpful to others in some way. You think another truck is a good idea? Well ok, I'll do that... for about a year!!

I’d like to think my life wouldn’t change a whole lot. With two exceptions.
There would be a LOT more of this... And this...
