I have owned my presenttruck since 2014 coming up to 7 years and average about 1000 miles a year. I dont worry about gas mileage but the rip off gas prices bother me.

Some is due to fuel distribution delays. As in, a driver shortfall. A BIG issue in the UK where they have issued a National Emergency to deploy military drivers.

Its not developed into a fuel shortage point here now but, is creating part of our current problems. Hell, a driver shortage was a problem here before the pandemic.
