Thanks for your support!

I had this pic of a close up of the carb/intake area. I can't take anything apart yet but thought this pic might provide more information.

I am concerned about how hard it will be to find all the parts that are missing, like the interior, trim, bumpers, glass, etc. But on the good side it is a solid rust free straight body to start with!

I have found lots of webpages with pics of these cars, but none that list parts for them. Anybody know of a source for parts for these?

Thanks

Check out Impala Bobs, Year One, Harmon's, Impala Association and then probably your best source period is gonna be Late Great Chevrolet Association. They are awesome! There are a lot more too but that's all that I can think of off the top of my head.

Looks like somebody has changed the generator to an alternator, smart move on somebody's part. The 348's ran pretty good as I remember. I think they also used them in the bigger trucks like the 1 Ton and bigger. Good luck with the negotations!

it's less negotiations, more hoping the owner of the car has truely disappeared.
It's been sitting in that shop for ~5 years, and that's after they did the body work on it.

If he gets ahold of the owner who knows what will happen....

But thanks

Just be aware you will have a FORTUNE in it if you have to buy all the trim separate!! Unless, of course, you weld all the holes and leave it off.

If I pull this off I'll get it for NOTHING!

OK, anybody have any extra 58 impala trim, bumpers or interior parts lying around?

Ok silvertongue, don't get too jealous too quick....it isn't mine yet.

But I'm thinking I should not show up at the body shop too much during the next 7 days, hopefully he will forget to try and contact the "owner". :-)

I'll update you as soon as things progress...or fall apart.

Am I going to have to sell my GMC to buy parts for the impala, are they that expensive?

Just kidding about selling the GMC, I haven't even driven it yet, it was a basket case when I got it.

I restored a 58 Impala HT back in 1991, in about the same condition, missing a lot of the stainless(had stainless not chromed alum), good running 348 4bbl (power pack) engine and trans, bad interior. With all new wiring, interior, trim and paint, I had close to $15,000 in it. I sold it in 1995 at the Pomona, Ca Swap meet to a Japanese buyer for $16500. Just my 2c's worth.

So how impossible will it be to get an interior, trim, glass, lights and bumpers?

Should I part it out?

409 didn t come out until 61 so if that s the original engine, it s a 348. Also,,,the 67 is lookin good,,,,,,,,go with the stock look, original steel wheels and dog dish hubcaps (few people do it and its a great look). Jim

Any idea where I can get some of those hub caps?
I honestly don't know what the right ones look like.

Unbelievable timing!

I just got back from the body shop, The owner of the car wouldn't pick it up, said he didn't care. We had proceeded with completing the garage keeper's lein paperwork when the own'ers dad, the actual owner of the car found out and was pisssed at his kid.

Dad had "given" the car to son under the condition son fixed it up. Long story made short, dad is taking the car back. Evidently the title was still in teh father's name.

DAMN! I had a wrecker scheduled and everything!

I haven't actually given up yet, it's still sitting in the shop.
Until it leaves I'm keeping my eye on it, and if given a chance will try to get it again.

We can also try to get a title for it based on it being abandoned if he doesn't pick it up.

I just have to be patient and see what happens.

That would be cool if it works out. I don't know where you are located but I just remembered, I do know where there is one of those stashed away if you feel you have to have one. It is complete but needs some work if I remember correctly, it's been about four years since I've seen it. It's located in Western Idaho.
