Re: How about some pics of Static Dropped C-10's

I think with a 5" drop u won't have to notch the frame. Mine has about a 2 1/2" notch with a 7" drop and I never bottom out

I do not carry a load in mine but if I did I'm sure it would bottom out as well.

Re: How about some pics of Static Dropped C-10's

Sounds good, was gonna order 5" drop springs for the rear and I won't be carrying large loads... maybe a couple hundred pounds at most. I may go for helper bags if I wind up towing with it. Thanks!

Re: How about some pics of Static Dropped C-10's

hey guys so im in the process of droppin my big block in. i just baught the front disk brake conversion for it with drop spindles and want to lower it more. i was thinking a 4.5/6 im going to be running 22x9.5 with 5.5b/s that got donated. is that a good drop that wont have many issues with rubbing or what would you recommend ??? what would be the best way to lower the rear?

Re: How about some pics of Static Dropped C-10's

Here's my '64:

Front: '79 Suburban front suspension, Bell Tech spindles, 1 coil removed. Lower control arms moved forward 3/4" to gain additional caster, 1-ton sway bar

Rear: Narrowed 12-bolt ('79 Suburban unit, narrowed a total of 4"), CPP 5" drop springs, ECE Super Track Bar, shock relocators, flipped front trailing arm mounts, 5-way adjustable shocks.

Wheels/tires: '60s vintage E.T. Supers, restored to original. The fronts are 15x6, the rears are 15x8.5 with a 3.0" backspace. The center caps are original, new oval ET Super caps (hard to find). The front tires are BFG 215/60-15 (to be changed to 225/60-15), and the rears are BFG Long Trail T/a Touring in 265/70-15.

These pictures are about three weeks old. It's currently undergoing surgery to gain additional ground clearance and to center the front wheels in the openings. Also, many of the dents have been removed and the fuel door access panels have been filled. The original patina is being saved, and we'll blend the paint on the repaired areas and distress it to look original.

SUPER COOL truck.
Great attention to detail and the wheel choice is perfect.
Thanks for the detailed suspension drop.

Today we are seeing more and more people throw on just a set of drop springs and complain because it rides like sh#t.
You are definitely "doing it right", the first time.
Love it.

Thank you for the kind words, Keith. I've been a real fan of your stuff for a long time, and used your disc brake link as guide when I did my swap. I've always been a person who likes them low, but they HAVE to ride good. The difference between a truck with a crappy ride and one with a nice ride is sometimes just a shock or spring choice away. Some guys don't get it, and won't listen to advice.

I will be posting more stuff on my '64 link very soon. The last 2 weeks on that truck have been super-busy, and a lot of stuff got done. Ironically, it was pretty timely, considering all of the recent activity on the site concerning ground clearance on lowered trucks. I just want to wait until I get the chassis paint touched up before I start posting.

Never had them but im looking to get some, I just don't want to cut out the fenders, will I have to with bags, or is there another way? I would appreciate any info you guys could share, also any info on bags and best place to purchase some for a decent price, thanks

Need more info on your truck. Year, model....?

Additionally, what are your plans? (lay frame, lay door or just slightly lower than stock)? How low do you want to go?
What is your budget?
Many options...best to look in the bagged pics thread in this same forum, and you can look at my pics and video in my signature.

Who ever lowered it heated the springs and bent them. Has anyone seen this, or done this? I know it makes for a rough ride.

Wow, I have never seen that done before. Drop shackles aren't that expensive. Does that cause a safety concern?

You need to replace those leaf springs.

I would guess this is the same person who takes the torch and heats the front coil sprins til it sits as low as he wants, but comes back later after things cool to see it is 2" lower than he wanted.

My buddy Casey does all the photography. It's called an HDR photo. He could tell you all about it. Check out his Facebook page that he just started today. It's called Altered Exposure.

Here is my 72 Sub I just lowered last week with the CPP 3"/4" spring kit. Rides great and I can haul anything!!!! Bought the Boss 301 20" rims off CL. They fit great. Running a 275/45 up front and 275/55 out back. I wanted the Hot Rod raked look....I like it!
