Thanks guys! Yeah I have found what looks to be a good seam sealer but was wondering the same thing with the self leveling issues? how do you keep it from running every were?

I forgot to mention that my buddy transitioned to a heavier bodied seam sealer a little bit before the drip rail curved down...

have been busy working on my drip rails areas. both of then had a lot of rust under them on the horizontals. i had taken half of them off blasted the area. i was able to reuse the pass side but had to rebuild the drivers, it was completely shot except for the outside lip thankgoodness! i had welded all of the seams on the door jam and the larger front seam of the drip rail just to clean those areas up a little bit.

Nice work. I would have used it as an excuse to shave it but then again if there was rust on the horizontals you don't have good metal to weld to...

Thanks guys! The rust was on the drip rail itself. The cab was still solid moisture must have laid on top of them and magic happened! They did line up very well, there was one spot I had to heat up and talk to it for a little but it worked out OK.

DAMN! i think our trucks sat out in the same field together and rusted. very nice metal work! as for your gutter seam sealer i found some really nice stuff to seal it up with. google Evercoat 100823 maxim control flow seam sealer.
last winter i went to the mid-atlantic paints openhouse/ paint show in upper marlboro MD and one of the paint venders had it. i took a picture of it and posted it on my build page. its a 2 part sealer that comes out of a mixing tube. it should outlast me in this lifetime. very nice build subscribed! good luck phipp out!

phipp it is somewhat funny but mine sat along side a garage and the drivers side away from it. the drivers side is twice as bad as the pass, well was! i will have to go back thru your build and check out the seam sealer part i must have missed it. does it go on bare metal or once primed? thanks for the info!

got a little done today when the wife and kids were playing horses. i got my firewall holes filled and cleaned up. i am so close to have my cab done and being able to paint it. i have a few spots on the kick panels to clean up and am thinking about capping the valley at the top of the firewall below the cowl.

I've seen some guys shave that valley, but it seems like water would just run into the engine compartment then. Guess it doesn't matter if it's a show truck!

I vote shave it...but that's just me actually, the lip on the windshield cowl would catch water and funnel it off to the sides.

I have to tackle that area as well, I know the original wiring rested in there... i've seen it capped and i've seen it shaved. I vote to cap it to keep the strength of the cab seam in that area.

thanks guys for the kudos! i think iam going to cap it and before that drill a hole right above the 2 holes that i filled next to the fuse panel in the valley on the horizantal. damn good tehcnical writing there boys! that way i can use the valley as a electrical chase/runway. it is not going to be a show truck but want to try and keep it as simple and clean as i can.

yes, i had cleaned the area up tonight and zinc primed it and notice a golf ball diameter pimple! of course i had to pop it and surprise and nother spot of rust! so i had to cut a little section of the lip of and will cut it out tomorrow night. it is were the heater core/vent box are setup goes in that funky spot. so i might have to use the plasma to get it out but have to check if anything is behind there before hacking.will post a pic tomorrow.

hey travis i had looked into the seam sealer that phipp13 had mentioned from evercoat and it looks like some good stuff! i am getting close to getting some and will let you know how it works.
