The best thing about the truck and car hobby is the variety of what owners do to thier trucks.
You want big back window?
There is a guy driving a 64-66 4X4 pickup around my area that cut the roof off like a blazer!
He has a little canopy over his head like a Jeep and frankly, that truck looks cool!
While it might not be my style... it is cool and different.
Right now I am trying to figure out how to do a front and rear roll pan on my wifes 63 stepside.... I am sure someone would have issues with that but like I said, thats what makes our hobby so cool.

Different is good.. I struggled with the BBW a little, but in the end that is what I always wanted so why not!!!! I know one thing, I have gotten my fair share of "questionable" attention with the project... A whole log of "why's" and "who would do that's".... Oh well it will be a one of a kind...

Thumbs up Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)

I may prefer a small back window, but this is an awsome build. I would have never thought of this swap. It looks great . In the end what YOU want and like is all that matters. If you are happy with the truck the way YOU built it (and I would be even with the big back window) That is great, keep up the good work...

You know what they say about opinions, in the end all that matters is if you like it. It's cool anyway you look at it small or big JMO...Vernski

I think your build is cool man, I been reading it all along.

Funny quote I read recently:
"Oh, my opinions offended you? That is funny, because you should have heard the ones I kept to myself!"

Anyways, the point is your build is an exersize in your opinion and and expression of what you think is cool or aesthetically pleasing.
After all, you are the one that has to be seen driving the damn thing!

Rock on man !!

Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)

Just found you build. Mine is the same swb 66 fleetside small window. This is also like how strange ,my truck is on 1996SS Impla frame Lt 4 396 stroker Trick Flow 64cc heads 2.02 1.06 1.6 crane roller rockers LT 4 Hot cam. I have been getting the mechanic done to engin an trans When a friend called me an tould me asbout you. Iam blowed away, Iam a mechanic all about engine and going fast ,I said to myself how am I going to make this work put my truck on this frame and make all of this work A/c and all the rest tie in together. BOOM here you are doing the same thing, but you are a fab man and ansewed all my question on how to put these two together. Young man thank you, you just made a 60 year old gear head a happy man. I have been in the automotive repaire side for 45 years. If you are going to incorperate the A/c system inside youre 64 cab let me hear more on youre take on how to do this Iam verry pleased to see younger guys that love the old school stuff but make the old an new go together. Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)

Well, the easy part was the mock up and fabrication. The slow part for me has been the body work and paint.. I would love to help you anyway I can.. I took a lot of pictures and hopefully that will help with your project. I have thought about just bolting it all together and get it on the road but I really want to do it right and get the paint done as I go... I think the hardest part is trying to do this stuff without a shop.. Maybe i can get a shop in the next few months. I did buy another house to flip or rent and it has a building that could be used as my paint booth.. Anyway, send me a message if you need to talk about any issues that you run into..

Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)

I was thinking, how about the a/c unit out of a 94 s10. It would have to be a smaller unit, plus it would be compatable so you could use the wire harness of the 94carprice.Ialso decieded to use my 700r4, we are installing a the speedo that will work with the insterment cluster an computer. Plus it a
better trans no computer to have to deal with. This trans was built by a old boy that knows his stuff $1900 worth it all ready to bolt in. I lived in norman ok 30 years ago an chickasa ,used to go party with all the natives me being a pale face with 1/8 cherokee they let me slide. Sure had a lot of fun what a crazy time.Thank God that you do grow up, well most do.So let me hear what you have to say.( The 60 year old gear head )

Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)

A/c is easy. Vintage air has a complete kit where the heater and AC hoses terminate inside so you can route your lines through the inner fender.

I am using the 4l60 because I am using the entire harness. The only concern I have is the speedometer not working. But Ilthe police package has a nigh lack out mode that works through the brake light switch so I think I can work around that.

I grew up in Chickasha. Live in Blanchard now and work in Norman. My grandpa retired from motor service in Chickasha. It was THE PARTS STORE before autorip and oLiars came to town. Spent many hours stocking parts for free. Matter of fact I didn't buy my first alternator, starter or battery until I was 25. I would rebuild my own out of cores that I would salvage through!! I miss that man!! He taught me more than any college or tech school.

Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)

A s10 AC may work. I looked at the Caprice AC but it was molded to the firewall and so it was oblong. I have found the Vintage air kits for 450 or so on Ebay..

I am back on it but don't have the time that I normally have in the winter time. I am having to rework the rear window kit. It was off about 1/2 inch. I am so close to firewall and door jam/window paint that I can taste it. The only driving I have done is doing burnouts in the back yard. I am very ready to get on with it.

Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)

It's a little late but did you ever consider leaving part of the floor and firewall from the caprice and cutting the cab to fit around that?
I ask because I'm thinking of a future project and going that route and am looking for the pros and cons, thinking I could easily keep the brake and AC stuff right where they are etc....

Shok, check out this build http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=498570. He left the floor and fire wall in place, I think it will help you out...

Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)

After getting both cab corners and getting the cab in primer i decided to take advantage of the great weather and shoot the firewall and windshield area. This was my first time to ever spray paint and I got some runs. I wet sanded them back out yesterday and shot another coat today. My second shot got some runs too. Basically right in the middle where I couldn't reach.. After setting all day in the heat I wet sanded the runs out fairly well. Maybe a little more work tomorrow then buff it out..

But it has some color..

Sneak peak of the firewall with the painted booster.. As soon as I get some Stainless bolts I can put the inner fenders in..

Dash is working.. Well kinda. No headlights or brake lights and the dash lights go dead when I turn on the lights. But that has something to do with the COP package "Blackout" feature. But I have parking lights, blinkers and hazards... Getting closer...

It was running in this pic.. check engine light is because of no mass air flow and the ABS is on because its a 64 pickup humping a 94 caprice. It just don't like it.
