Looking really good Chris. Hopefully that nice damage on your driver's side won't be able to be seen when it's done lol.

Lol I figured that man. Just saying I hope it comes out good when it's all said and done. Question. Does that shade blue hide bondo well?

Re: My 88 buildup on a tight budget

seemed to hide pretty well. I usually make sure my bondo is nice and flat and feathered in right before hand though.

As for covering light colors like grey primer it doesn't do so well, takes 4-5 coats to really cover it nicely.

Re: My 88 buildup on a tight budget

prep work is the key man, just take you rtime and make sure it feels smooth.

Then use some good high build primer or soemthing over it to help with small imperfections.

Re: My 88 buildup on a tight budget

parking brake cables all done, ended up having issues with everything, had to get another wheel cylinder, both were new, not even a year or so old, but the boot got torn. I also bent a spring so I bought a hardware kit, best thing ever, I'm buying them all the time from now on.

parking brake cables are all on hooked up and working good, brakes are adjusted as well.

now my battery is dead LOL. I also have yet to bleed all the brakes, set toe, put gas in it and drive it since all the new front end parts and paint.

Re: My 88 buildup on a tight budget

thanks will,

pretty hot today, painted this morning, let em bake all day, put em back on about 8:30 or so tonight. they had a good 8-9 hrs bake time LOl.

Anyways they are back on and done of course, still have to put the wire boots back in place, they aren't locked into the cab yet, just gotta push them in place.

Going to paint the base of my new mirrors, install them, tint the windows hopefully while the door panels are off, and fix the locks. The DS needs a lock pawl retainer clip, hopefully that fixes it, and the PS needs a lock rod clip to hold the rod to the lock pawl arm. it keeps popping off on me.

Re: My 88 buildup on a tight budget

still have them here in a box.

as for prgogress, not much...

had what they called a land hurricane come thru, wiped out the internet, phone and tv for 5 days.

A for the truck it's messed up now, fuel system it clogged up i think, due to low fuel and it being old, injectors don't spray they run or drip, flooded the motor out bad, radaitor is leaking at the heater hose nipple, door handle on the ps broke, one rod clip broke on that side and lost another, so that handle and lock outside don't work.

So now paint is really on hold because I have no cash to do anything with much less fix that crap first before paint.

I'm sorry to hear about that man, I know about how those fuel systems can get. What were your plans for the old quad lights?

Re: My 88 buildup on a tight budget

How much were you thinking of selling them for? Reason why I ask is I have been trying to hunt down a set for cheap. Truck looks good by the way.
