Thanks for the info on the drop. I really like the idea of the shift linkage mod! I bet those headers will sound as good as they look.

Re: 1972 GMC Shorty Conversion

Well, I got the truck out of the exhaust shop on Thursday, aligned on Friday so its now road ready.

Ed Hanson's Muffler Shop in Spring Valley CA completed the exhaust system. Kevin, the tech that built the system did a fantastic job. Kevin has done the exhaust systems on all of my projects and does amazing work. It was not an easy task for him to get a dual, 3" system in the truck while keeping it out of sight.

The system uses three chamber big block 3" Flowmaster mufflers, flanged "H" pipe and stainless exhaust tips.

Thanks again for looking. Here's some pics of the new exhaust.

Re: 1972 GMC Shorty Conversion

Just saw this thread, I'm not on here much so I don't know how often people shorten beds but you are the only person I've seen do it other than the one I did. I posted a thread a few years back but didn't put many pics on it. I did mine a little different so that I wouldn't be cutting up the body line, I'm impressed yours looks so good the way you cut it up. I never did finish mine and the bed was pretty rusty so I didn't take the time to keep it straight while welding so you can see where I welded it after it was primed. Here's a link to some pics for anyone that's interested

Sorry for the late reply.

Not much is new, just been driving it as much as I can. I've put close to 4K miles on it since getting it back on the road.

I recently freshened up the TH400 trans and added some three point belts. It has turned out to be a nice riding/driving little truck, I'm really happy with it.

The next step will be paint/interior, but that will have to wait for now.

Miles

Thats a gear vendors over/under drive on the end of it. Basically turns it into a 6 spd by splitting the factory ratios. You have 1st, 1st over, 2nd, 2nd over, 3rd and 3rd over. They are very trick and work great at keeping the engine in its powerband since it dosent drop so much between shifts.

Miles,

The exhaust turned out awesome, I would be very pleased with that. Truck looks great too...

Re: 1972 GMC Shorty Conversion

Thanks for the comments guys, they sure mean a lot to me. After all the hard work its nice to here positive feedback.

As for the paint, the plan is to paint the entire truck inside and out. Unfortunately, I'm not very handy at body/paint work, so that will have to wait for now.
