Looking good Keith. I like the fact your changing the front timing cover and oil pan gaskets while the engine is out, something I regret on my build. I would recommend drilling and tapping the 1/8"-27 NPT threads on your cast metal assembly above the oil filter to accept 1/8" NPT sensor for your oil PSI gauge while the engine is out.

Great thinking, and might have to do this on mine!

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Keith, I got my LS started last night. I put my coil packs on the inside of the main cab support between the support and the trans tunnel on the tow board. It was a close fit, but they are in there. I forgot to snap some pictures, but I'll see if I can get some tonight!

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Sorry for the lack of updates guys. I have had a major setback in my life that may force me to sell my project and never see it finished. This is the last thing in the world I want, I have way to much time, energy and money invested in this project to just let it go. I am going to sell some things off the project like the wheels and one of the motors (not decided which one yet) to try and recoup some funds. Hopefully I will be able to keep the truck but in the end if I have to sell it, then I will. I won't have any updates for a while as I try to sort this out.

Keith, real sorry to hear that. I know youve worked your butt off in this and have a lot more than money invested in this but there's other things that are more important to take care of. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you work through this.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Hey Keith,
I don't know you from Adam but I have read your build site. I currently have a 1970 C10 SWB, step side I am building. You have given me so many ideas, taught me a lot and by seeing you do things you've never done before & making it look easy gave me the confidence to do it myself. I want to thank you for that.
I want to tell you about a friend I got. A few years ago he was helping somebody (It seems like he was always helping people). Some other guys around town didn't like him & would always want to stir things up. One of them told a lie on him. He got arrested & found guilty although he never did anything wrong. They killed him. An innocent man that only wanted to do good. That's not the end of the story. Yesterday I remembered Him. As you probably know by now His name was Jesus. The reason he died was for you & me. He who knew no sin took on my sin so I might live. The reason I told you this story is to let you know that whatever you are facing right now you don't have to face alone. Read John 3:16 & Matthew 11:28-30. This is the answer to ANY problem you have. I'm praying for you.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Hang tough man. I would love to see it finished too but a guy has to do what a guy has to do. If you do have to let it go, think of how fast you'll be able to get where you are now on the next one. Like you, I've been learning a lot of this on the fly. If I could rewind I would approach it differently for sure.

as many have said already, we have really enjoyed following along with your build and the determination you had to tackle things you have never done before. Just remember, these are only material things, and i'm certain things can only get better for you. praying for the best.

Keith, my thoughts go out to you and your family, keep your head up because a truck is simply a truck, its nothing that cant be replaced at some point. Take care of yourself.

The road from the bottom of the mountain to the top of the mountain is never a straight line. Stuff happens. Stuff gets bought as well as sold. Keep in mind "it's only stuff".
We do what we have to do or think is the best thing to do at the time. Move on.
You will be fine, and "LIVE TO BUILD ANOTHER TRUCK ANOTHER DAY".

Usually it's the setbacks or bumps in the road that make us stronger, smarter, and "who we are".
