Re: The GSFMech Build

Thanks, I was surprised it wasn't taken already, in Louisiana you can go online to the DMV and put in the plate you want and if it's available you can get it.

Update. I sold the motor out of my truck, a buddy of mine wanted it. I am now building a 496 for it with Scat crank and rods, probe pistons and Dart Iron eagle heads. Going with an air gap intake. It's all in the machine shop now, new pics coming soon.

Re: The GSFMech Build

Yep pics coming soon, I'm at work overseas and hopefully the machine shop will be finished with the balancing and boring the block and stuff by the time I get there, he's had it almost a month. When I get it all back I'll get plenty of pics. I get home the end of next week so maybe he'll have it ready. I am Stoked!!!

Sorry, I have not checked in for awhile. I am running a 2 1/2" mandrel bent system with Thrush welded mufflers. The headers are Chevelle headers, Hooker Comps, 2" with 3 1/2" collectors.

Re: The GSFMech Build

It's hard to bellieve there is a 496 hiding under those stock valve covers. I have even hidden Comp Magnum ultra pro roller rockers under them as well. I have run the engine in on my test stand and it sounds real good. I hope to have it in the truck soon.

Re: The GSFMech Build

Finally got this thing in and running last month. Still some tuning and tweaking to do but it runs awesome. It'll sit there thumping in gear and idle with the AC on at 800 rpm and can fry tires at will. I'm very happy with the combo so far.

Re: The GSFMech Build

It’s been a really long time since I’ve updated this thread and there have been a lot of updates done to the truck during my absence unfortunately I got lazy posting. Since this was updated I’ve made several runs to Cruising the Coast, 2 years in a row to C10’s in the Park and long hauled the Power Tour this year and have had a blast with it. Well all things must come to an end I guess. I was headed home from C10’s in the Park back in September, running down the highway doing about 55 mph and a drunk driver decided to turn left in front of me with me only about 100 ft from him. At 55 mph you are moving 80 ft a second, so I had nowhere to go. Needless to say, she took a big hit, front end bent, cab bent, left bedside bent and frame is toast. To add insult to injury I had just added a Gear Vendors Overdrive and a new Denny’s driveshaft just a few days before. I’ve owned this truck almost 20 years. Not to worry sometime you have to make lemonade out of lemons, so I have acquired another project and I have stripped my blue truck and will swap everything over to it and will be using a full QA1 suspension, Dakota RTX gauges and other goodies. I may repair and reuse the body at some point down the line but in the meantime the body is going into storage. I’ll start a new build page soon. A few photos of the carnage, it’s still sickening months later.
