Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I didn't really do anything to my truck but made contact with the original owners son who got the truck from his Dad in 2000/2001. Found out the truck was dealer stock and Dad didn't like the green plaid seat cover so bought a seat cover right away to cover it.

Pulled the cab and doors off the chassis and set it on a dolly I made. Then transported it to paint jail.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
More pics.... Was quite a bit of decay along the bottom of the skin so had my upholstery guy sew a strip along the bottom. I thought the mismatching colors was better than a ragged finish.
I glued the skin to a metal door panel. The wrinkles are from where the foam separated from the vinyl and I did not peel all that off from the backside of the skin to reglue it. I did it on the driver side door skin, and it's a miserable job. There's the vinyl, the foam and then the paper, and the foam/paper is heat sealed to the embossed areas on the door panel. Hard to explain. I need some matching color estucheons!! |

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Hood. Not sure if I'm going to be able to save it, or have to get it repainted..... I did the passenger side and it came out OK. The spots that have paint on them shine like new. Found myself buffing a lot of black primer to a shine.... Very delicate balance to get the dead paint off to find some that I can work, without going all the way to the bare metal.

Replaced the transmission mount. Some of you might get a kick out of my sophisticated "shade tree mechanic" jack.
