Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Butch was back again today. He did his thing and I tried to stay out of his way while I continued to mock up the Vintage Air hoses.

Coming along. Man, did he straighten out those lines. And the hood is gonna work...For fit, that is.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Took both front wheels off after jacking it up. Replaced $147 worth of ss brake lines...Nasty job. Especially by yourself. Haven't clamped 'em down yet.

Wiped up all kinds of drool from the floor. Trans. fliud, brake fluid. I sure hope the trans fluid on the floor is left over from my stupid move of trying to
fill the trans with the drive shaft out....Looks like I fixed the brake fluid leaks....hope, hope...The "hope" is that it doesn't leak from somewhere in the back, now.

Looks like oil drooling from the oil pan plug, too. Must leak...I don't have any oil in it. Took out the old gas. Put in 5 gals of new gas. New gas cans (plastic) suck big time.
I just took off (and then threw away) the "fancy" EPA crappy spring-loaded "nozzle" and used a funnel.

Measured, marked, cut, and sent the A/C hoses back to Vintage Air for proper crimping.

Ran some wiring for the A/C fused power. I looked at the bat. terminal where I have the hot only hooked up to mock up the fused line and the routing of the + cable. Brand new 48" cable.
One tightening on the battery. The lead connector broke off. Or, actually, broke into two pieces. I'm gonna guess that if I looked, it says "Made In China" somewhere on it.

Anyone know of some good ones?

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

well this isnt just today but in the past month I found a 69 chevy half ton the guy was going to send to scrap cuz the cab was rusted out beyond belief so i took the all steel bed and rear springs and swapped them with mine because the previous owner put cut jeep cherokee springs in the back of my truck. I also installed a nice stereo system running two mid drivers under the seat and 6x9s in the doors with a kenwood deck. just this morning i blew the head gasket so thats what ill be spending my weekend repairing. i just found a line on a sb350 that dynod 390hp with 500 miles on it for $100. just needs to be reassymbled long story short.... but being my daily driver i need it to run so im gonna just fix the head gasket for now

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

New aluminum radiator arrived today. Installation due to happen tomorrow. It is a three-row with some interesting welding. Hoping for the best for under $200 plus shipping. It surely can't leak as fast as my brass radiator that someone shot with a small caliber rifle for some unknown reason.

Radiator installed easily. The upper mount was a little loose on one side but the other side is tight. Everything lined up like factory.

You get it plumbed up and everything, too? Does it keep the truck nice and cool?

If you had to do it again, would you get the same one?

I've tried all the tricks, but mine still runs a little on the warm side at times. I might need to look into a bigger radiator

CLRd the truck and came to the realization that it.ll be cheaper to replace hood, fenders, and a door than pay hours of labor. HA time to get widewhites!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Installed the outside and inside heater box. New heater core. Bought the coolant outlet neck and 180* thermostat. Have still got to find a radiator Will install the neck and thermostat tomorrow. I'll remember the camera and post pics tomorrow.

Rdrdave... Where did you get yours from? Got any pics to post?

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Champion off of E-Slay.

I think it was $200 or $250 with 2-12" electric fans. I bought the relay and sensor separately, if I remember correctly. Like, about $50.

Not running yet, so I have no real good info on it's cooling ability.
I think it looks good.

I had to use a big top clamp on the driver's side and a small top clamp on the pssgr's. I don't know why. A little trimming to fit just right...No big deal.
Could have been my radiator core support. I don't even know what year it is...I think a 71.

Or, maybe moving to a 3-row.

Oops! pardon the middle pic. I was just sourcing the hose positions. Also, you can see the rad. came with a built-in tranny cooler.
