Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Tim, those latched look close on size...maybe too close? Don't know, you may just need to try fabbing them up?

Under dash valance is a good idea. Hope it warms up for you.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

AD:

I just have the doors that are on the truck.
Wish I had a door to work the latches into for mock up.

The valance is just going to take some slow work to make it work.
Just have to get the right size flat metal to work with (20 or 24 g )

Will think about the latches some more.
Still have the power window n wing window to install.

Everything I think about is more time to build.

P/S hope everyone is doing good.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

AD;

The stock latches are still on the doors n seem to work just fine.
They close n open from both inside n outside.
Just that the outside handle is not lined up right. (looks)
Been thinking about what to use on the interior seats,door panel n kick panels.
I think with it being a truck the (old school) saddle blanket type interior would look great in the truck.
With the black headliner from LMC.

Well it SNOWED here again last nite.
So looks like a few more days of not being able to work on the truck.

Still have a sore leg also. Getting better slowly.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello Everyone;

Here is a pic of the door n kick panel type covering I want to use to match the seat covers.
It is called "saddle blanket" .
I think it will look very good in the truck.
Going to run the black strips up n down on the doors.
Any feed back will work.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

I think that will look good on your door panels Tim. I vote for stripes running up and down.

I think with the strips running up n down will make the door look taller.
With them long ways it will make the door look wider.
Plus with them up n down it will match the line on the seats.
Will order the 2 part headliner from LMC (it is black).
Just not sure how that will look ! !

With the wind n cold n snow here ,working in the house.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello Again Everyone;

I know I have not posted in a few days,
With the cold weather n the leg still sore,I thought it best to just relax.

What a dumb outcome to the SB !!

Well got out to the garage today.
Took the bed loose n got the holes enlarged.
Replaced bed n aline it, was able to get it alined to were the tires now clear.
Looks like I will be able to use a 1/4" spacer on the rear n a 5/16"spacer on the front to make the wheels look right in the fenders.
Will have to replace all the lug bolt with a 1" longer type.
So no pic today as it was just making alinements to the bed.

Tryed to work in shop today,still cold but with the way my shop sets, the sun come in the big door so not to bad. Wind is blocked by the trailer n the other shop.
Just working with a still sore leg so did not get as much done as I had hope.

Will see how tomorrow feels.

Got the bed alined
How I have4" from wheel to fender on both sides;
That is with the chrome wheels on;
Added 5/16 spacer to rear wheel which moved the fender to wheel space to 3.5"
Will try to find pic of the chrome wheels (8x14) all the way around;
With the front fender off was not able to ck the space on the fender to wheel .
Still have to get NEW spacer under the cab with the radiator support set in.

Hope that the next few days stay warm.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

hope you get the leg fixed up soon it. hate when all you can do is seat a round because it hunts to walk or just stand on it. looking at the last pic of the truck looks like the front of the cab is a little low or is the hood not closed

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

jeb.
The front of the cab was low.
At this time I have a 3/4" redwood block in place under both front cab mounts.
Waiting for my friend to make me a couple of 1" thick steel plates to replace the 3/4" ones.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello All:

Well got the fenders off the project,took the time to spot weld the fender braces to the inter fenders.
This way I will be able to get the holes lined up to the radiator
once I get the cab set on the 1" spacer
so that the hood fits on the cab before I mount the fenders.
Once I get the radiator/fenders mounted then I can get the lower radiator mounts bolted to the frame rail.
Worked some of the fender dents out today in the house where it was warmer n I did not have to stand on my legs so much.

Got a NEW appt with my old cast maker
He made my cast 8yr ago.
He said that it would take about 4wk for me to get my NEW cast.
Which is better then 6mo for 2 cast that don't fit.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Tim,
Your making great progress! slow and steady work well. I just can't seem to get the time thing to work !! Thanks for the kind words on my build thread. Hope to make some more progress this weekend but have a couple of things to do for Dad too. If I'm really lucky and time cooperates I might just get my cab back on the frame next weekend! We'll have to see how things go.
Hope your leg is doing better, I can relate to the issues you have, my FIL whom passed away 4 years ago lost his leg just below the knee 25 years prior to his passing. Helped him many a time at the Dr. and prosthesis guys place. Give it time to heal while its cold weather, summer was always bad on my FIL he liked being outside a lot. (blisters)
Anyway keep up the good work and I will check in now and again.
Ron

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Thanks Ron;

I know I need to stay off of of it too.
Just like your friend it is hard to do when the weather is nice.

I DO have an appt next week with the guy that did my first sockets.
The 1st ones still work n don't rub my leg,just with the sore already there it is still touchy.
It will most likely take him about a month to get the 1st new socket made.
Then once he get that one made then the other two will go faster.
I have like 3 different ones;
1 for everyday work
2 dress boot
3 tennis shoe for evening around the house (lighter)

Hello everyone;

Well got the front fenders off , try to do some body work on them.
Were dented up good.
Not a body man but I try to make it look better as best as I can.
My buddy said he would try to get the spacers made for me ASAP.
I understand he has a shop to run first.
Plus he doesn't charge for the metal.

Worked on the rear tire clearence this past week.
Have the bed now centered with like 3/4 inch both side.
Looks like I will not have any tire rub now.

Working on the door windows n wing window also.
Will try to take pic as I do this window fit.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

AD:

I took the front fenders off just to tac weld the fender braces in place on the inter fender.
I had hell try to line all 3 parts together the first time.
Hopefully this will help me.

I read some where that you can use shims on the side of the radiator/fender mount to adj the fender to hood clearness??

So while I had the fender off I'm going to try to clean up some of the dents.

T-P Auto
Tim

P/S I'm sure that these NEW sockets will fit n work much better.
