Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban

Nothing much new done, work has been taking a lot of my time latley. I finally got around to ordering body mounts. I was in a hurry to get the truck painted and out of the shop when we set the body back on and the originals are in right now.

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban

Got the new body mounts in and I sure had the old ones wrong. Got them all put in properly and I actually lowered the body about an inch lower than it previously was.

Steering linkage looks great. Your running a BBC right? What headers are you running on it.

BBC was the original plan, even have a standard 454 block here in the garage, but the more I think about it, I may be doing a SBC.

I got the rest of the front floor finished up and the roof in the front done. I cant do much more with the back floor until I decide how I am going to do a gas tank. I can cut the floor and use a stock style tank or have one made that fits under the floor, but if I do that, im afraid I wont be able to use a reciever hitch.

I was at a shop this past weekend and they had an Old Air add on kit that I think I may end up using for the rear A/C. It would be fairly easy to add to the roof in the rear and I think it may be small enough to incorporate into a console and just have vents for the rear seat.

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban

My rear door panels are in pretty bad shape and I was thinking I could just recover them myself with some vinyl. The first didnt turn out like I wanted at all so I am going to find another pair or have someone cover the ones I have. Anyone know anyone making repros?

Don't know of anyone making repops. I've got a WTB ad for a third door one and not having any luck. Apparently like civil war gold bars.

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban

Finally got a motor, its a 383 that a guy had built for a 67 SWB with porterbuilt suspension that he decided to part out. When I picked it up, it was still sitting in the chassis and the long tube headers fit.
