Your on my list to call when we have another. Problem is the guy who owns all the stuff had to change jobs and is now stuck in middle of KS for about 3 years. Hope he can get down and do it next spring.

Man I carry that coin in my wallet now.

Anytime you want to come down.

Jared, don't forget my name on that list.

Love the one piece windows, that will really finish off the look of the panel.

What's next on the panel? Or what have you been working on we're not aware of?

Re: '56 Chevy Panel build (SLP)

I've got to save up and find me a motor to get mocked up and then steering figured out. So nothing new other than the doors.

Thanks and nope. Busy and cold time of the year here. Firewood, deer hunting, work, other projects....

Working on saving up funds for the next stage of the build.

Re: '56 Chevy Panel build (SLP)

Well it's been to cold here for me to work on the panel. Still saving up on $$$ to get an engine. I'm thinking that up next will be some of the rust repair in the firewall area and maybe pull the frame out to clean it up.

As for the mod to the doors, it was way cheaper than getting the kits you see sold. Look up the link and check it out blackdiesel tells all in the vids. Plus we even have a link to print out the window template.

We did pretty good. I think off our land we got 5 deer, one buck was nice. Forgot your last name and I'll check it out. I saw your getting ready to get the motor mounts done. I'll be checking that out as you post.

Thanks

Panels and Suburbans are a little hard to find but they are out there. I picked up a suburban for parts that was shot for $165 and my panel was only $50.

One thing about these are that parts are hard to come by. I got lucky and the only rust isues I have are parts that are shared with the pickup cab. So from the doors back you have to fab up yourself. A common question from guy with these are where to find lower rockers and no one makes them.

Good luck

Re: '56 Chevy Panel build (SLP)

wow i just read this entire thread, and wow this thing looks sweet, thats awesome you got this for 50 bucks, and it has almost no rust for how long it sat thats cool to you made your deadline for the show, im building a 1983 chevy c-10 stepside, no where near as cool as yours but it will be lowered 3inch in front and 5 in rear, set of 18inch boss 338 whees and a cowl hood, the rest i think im going to leave pretty much alone just re do it to stock i kinda like the way they look when there pretty much restored, slamed on the ground with bigger wheels but any ways great build and cat wait to see more

Your panel rocks!!! I just read your build and that thing is sweet. I have dealt with Justin at Scott's also and they are great to deal with. Can not wait to see this come together.

Thanks, the hubcaps will need clips added like on original wheels and I do not know the hub bore.

My dad would probably kill you for "ruining" an old panel, but i think its cool

Btw, he has 17 panels and subs from 55-59, all unrestored, some old school buses suburbans, 2 1 ton panels, and 4 original V8's, and a 57 ice cream truck and a 56 original v8 bus (gm said they didnt make a v8 bus in 56 but we have one). He probably has the biggest unrestored collection in the country, granted they arent show trucks, but i wouldnt mind fixing one up someday.

Keep up the good work, me likey.
