Re: Freddy's '52

I need some help guys. I bought a pair of seatbelts from the boneyard from a late 90ish Denali and the PS is giving me fits, the rear belt of the unit is not wanting to release properly. Any ideas on how to fix it? TIA

Re: Freddy's '52

maibe you mounted the belt backwards (inside out)thats simple to test just try to turn the buckle on the beltside over and stick it in that way maibe that works if it does then
you only have to remount the belt the right way (maibe you got two driverside belts )
does the driverside lock in the passengerside ?

Re: Freddy's '52

I used a little WD40 on a latch this weekend that wouldn't snap right and solved it. I have used silicone spray on the belt it self to get it to work better. One thing you might consider is when a newer car is in an accident it pulls the belt down tight and has to be replaced along with the airbags, some of them have a co2 cartridge that goes off in an accident and pulls the belt tight. we replaced a set last yr that had a 1" difference in the old and new
Just food for thought.

Re: Freddy's '52

Like Orge says neccesity is the mother of invention and I proved it right Tuesday night, my wife didn't like where the seatbelt fell when she sat in the truck(notice the difference in the picture). So I had to move the mounting point down, the reason it was up high was because of getting a wrench on a nut to tighten it down. So I had to invent something (treaded rod with socket welded to it) after my original plans went totally wrong.

I'm gonna try messing with the belt again tonight, maybe a little p.b blaster will fix it. The thought crossed my mind about the accident affecting it. The belt at the top of the picture is the one that won't release.

First show of the year on Saturday....... I can't wait!!!!!!!

Re: Freddy's '52

I had one of those better than normal productive nights last night.
I got my dash pieces removed and painted, then got my windshield trim pieces and my dash painted. For some reason my paint was drying very fast last night allowing me to do the strips and then the other color all in like 1 hour. The dark color is really cool, its looks black in the photos but it is actually a dark granite metallic from rustoleum. Can't wait to see it in the sun. Now I can put my red steering wheel on for the first time.
Hopefully truck goes to the upholstery shop next week for seat, door panels and console covering.

I appreciate the compliment I am humbled. Your son is a really lucky young man, I have one 17 and 11 . I try not to work on my truck too much when my son is with me, since I only have him every other weekend and my oldest doesn't have anything to do with me (mother destroyed our relationship in divorce). But, it gives me great pleasure to work on my truck with my youngest, he helped me bleed the brakes, was there when I fired it up for the first time and our first cruise-in together not long after I had it on the road. Moments I'll cherish forever. Best of luck!

Re: Freddy's '52

Friday night got the door jambs sprayed and the tape pulled off the dash, trim put on and my steering wheel put on. Car show was rained out Saturday so I was bumbed all day. Not the best pictures so I'll take some today with it outside.

often the belt won't release because it's twisted inside the unit
try to get it in a little more and if it releases pull it all the way out to get to the twist.

1052SSR, It was really good to finally put a face with the name this afternoon! The trucks dash looks great and I'm sure the interior will look super after a trip to the upholstery shop. I still have some other questions but they can wait till we're able to work our schedules out and get together again or meet up at one of the local cruise-in's or shows.

Yes, I was amazed, and the price was amazing as well 350 for all even with the greys being the fake leather. It's a 91 chevy silverado seat, with some foam trimmed off the ends.

Re: Freddy's '52

they done a nice job , you know the sides of that radio consolle might be a nice place to put the tweeters in directed to the front windshield so they dont get too irritatingly bright straight intoo the left or right ear
you prolly have some space left behind the radio to mount the crossovers the mid / low can go intoo the cables you prolly allready have running down intoo the doors
its allso a good place to put the sensors in for the alarmsystem if you use the ultrasone ones

It was in Cumming at Freedom Tabernacle Church, their first ever show and had around 60 cars.
