Re: Free Candy Inside: 63 Long Panel Build

those triangle wedges on 60-63 will also give you fits.

you can use them to move the door around quite a bit.

the striker plate will adjust a little bit, the nuts are on a captive plate behind the pillar, I had to really soak down the ones on my crew cab to get them to break loose, since they were pretty much rusted in place.

you can also get the bottom rear corner to kick in by loosening the top (door, not body) hinge bolts

this picture kind of shows the backside of the striker plate, so you have an idea of what will move.

I had to do all 3 adjustments on the doors of my crew to get them to line up, lots of trial and error, the key is to get the hinge and wedge bolts just tight enough that you can move the door to the right spot, and then fully tighten them.

Re: Free Candy Inside: 63 Long Panel Build

Thanks Jonz... I'm going to mess with it some more today. Got me some paint sticks this morning and did some research last night. Hopefully I don't have something slightly off structurally and that's causing my issues.

Re: Free Candy Inside: 63 Long Panel Build

Managed to get the door back on and working although it's not real good. Probably needs completely rebuilt but it's on for now. Also got the front fenders cobbled on and lower mounts made. Did some other body work stuff. Had to rework the exhaust mounts because the straps broke. Hopefully my new mounting idea works. Also started working on the floors but didn't make much progress. I did however make an intake out of an old hubcap. The factory intake wouldn't clear the hood with a 4" channel.

Re: Free Candy Inside: 63 Long Panel Build

Haven't made much progress. Been busy working on other things. It's been raining a lot hear lately and even though my truck is inside it makes me less motivated. Here is a drawing of what I was thinking about doing bead roll wise. Some of my friends said it looks too busy. The cross in the middle won't be bead rolled, it was just there for reference and then wouldn't erase. Feel free to way in.

Re: Free Candy Inside: 63 Long Panel Build

Decided to take it for a drive to run some errands yesterday. Pretty bad when your crazy modded truck drives better than your DD. lol. Maybe it's about time to switch up which ones the DD. Big bus little bus.

I kind of agree. It does look good, but a little too busy, at least for my tastes. Work looks great though.

Re: Free Candy Inside: 63 Long Panel Build

The center looks good but too many lines on the side panels

Re: Free Candy Inside: 63 Long Panel Build

Thanks for the input and I agree with what you all said. I started working on the wheel arches for the rear. Think I need to redo the panel though and make the lines come out. Notice I made the side lines flow into the panel and fade out. That'll be behind a seat and nobody will ever see it. Oh well.

Drove the truck to a drive in movie with some of my hood rat friends and their old cars. Was pretty cool.

Re: Free Candy Inside: 63 Long Panel Build

Decided I needed to redo the front of the wheel arch panel to make it go with more of the truck. Then I worked on the rest of the wheel arch. Hopefully now less rocks will hit me when I drive. Lol

Re: Free Candy Inside: 63 Long Panel Build

Also got the rear of the tub done. Think it turned out good. Finally starting to learn this machine better. Decided to just do 3 lines to keep it simple and not too busy and also it works out since the truck is a 63.

Some days I don't want to work on it. It makes it easy being a teacher with almost 3 months off and nowhere to be. Lol.

Finished up the passenger wheel arch. Started working on some odds and ends. Needed a little break from floor work. Continue with that tomorrow.
