Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

Chuck, here is your windsheild,I presume you still want it. I'll be heading that way early Friday morning(as early as I can,I work nights and get home 1or 2 am).Best I remember it's about a 7 or 8 hour drive, should be there mid afternoon. I'll call when I'm close ,planning to come directly to your place,as you are only about 15 or 20 minutes away from my wife's cousins house . If your not home,I can come later or even Saturday

Yes! I am trying to get the top painted by then but I don't know if I'll make it by Fri. I get off work @ 4 and should be home about a quarter after. That looks good. Hard to tell in pics. Its tinted right?

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

I got the rear window out and sanded around the opening and I also sanded the rest of the top. I had to prime a couple spots on the very top.
Then I started to see how hard it is to get the surface rust off the heads I got last month from inherited 71. WHEW this is going to take some time. The rust comes off easy but there are a lot of nooks and crannys on heads. I will have to get some more wire brushes to put on the drill. I also got a video showing how to port and polish heads. I'm thinking about it right now, I haven't decided if I'm going to do it to these.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

If you do a port and polish make sure and take lots of pics. Saw them doing it on some new heads on Horsepower TV this past weekend.

Is it a "No No" to sandblast on heads?

I don't know Trai. I guess it would work if you made sure you got it all out(media). I need a new vaccuum for mine and haven't used it in a while.I picked up some new brushes today for it though.

I painted the top tonight

Did I read right in your post, the white top was painted with a spray can? If so, that looks great!!! What brand paint did you use?

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

I got the windshield in with the help of my son. I put the rearview mirror holder on. thats what the tape is holding. It was not fun puting this windshield in. The trim comes out of the rubber easy when installing. I don't know if 67-70 trim has a bigger lip on it or not but If I were to do it again I would check. The back window also was put in. It was a whole lot easier. My wife helped me with it.
