Re: What kind of Music do YOU like ? Post it up, Please
I have an old Greatest Hits album that has a cut or two from that Mayall session. I can't even imagine how cool that would have been to be around there and then. Peter Green, eh? I'm guessing this was cut before Stevie Nicks was even born They wanted to have everyone's name in the band, so the official
name was "Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac featuring Jeremy Spencer" https://youtu.be/O8RhZDGLEXM https://youtu.be/T8v_OC3zWCM https://youtu.be/qUxI90HAKfQ I saw Mayall a year ago or so. He's still got it! And what an eye for talent. He seems to be able to find the best guitar players, and bring out the best in them. This was from the tour I saw last year: https://youtu.be/qUxI90HAKfQ And one a little more recognizable, with Walter Trout and Coco Montoya: https://youtu.be/RVcx2IaKaLw And once again, it's Blues Night in SLC tomorrow. I'm going to see a harp player named John Nemeth. Originally from Boise, so he would come around fairly often but now he's moved to Memphis and we don't get to see his blues as often: https://youtu.be/0lGgtTxLo2Q https://youtu.be/bxeKlnHeiBk Man, there's that Kid Andersen again. Funny how he keeps showing up in these vids

I used to think 50s stuff was unremarkable. Maybe it is, but it's a tough going when you're behind the 60s.

Re: What kind of Music do YOU like ? Post it up, Please
Mayall certainly does and always has had a knack for assembling talent. I'm really enjoying all the music shared here. I heard Mayall live more times than I can count. I remember playing the Back To The Roots dbl album (cassette) on my Ampex deck through Eutaw speakers in my '56 Bug on many a memorable date late late nights
I believe this was cut in 1967. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8Q7OeTfOAE Back To The Roots: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ore3Cb-1D0E

Re: What kind of Music do YOU like ? Post it up, Please
Yes, Mitch Mitchell. Someone said they only like drummers who hold their sticks right. Oh well, I don't care. Especially when it's Mitch who can play better than anyone they could show me. Yes sir, the man can certainly play circles around any rock drummer to this day
Mick Fleetwood, although you'd never know by his playing once Stevie Nicks got involved for their most popular songs, is a drum playing master himself https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXux...zjnxyATZuyXgz_ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz4x...uyXgz_&index=6 This is the kind f music I listen to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boertpylK0M

Re: What kind of Music do YOU like ? Post it up, Please
That is where they evolved out of the blues to. Such talent it's hard to believe. Listen to how they evolved through those albums, along with the personnel. the core of the group has been the rhythm boys... Mick Fleetwood on drums and John McVie on bass, while the dazzlers have come and gone the rhythm boys have be steady Eddie throughout. Very unique for rock music.
This was the very first Fleetwood Mac album I heard. My sister, four years older, was a huge influence on me and music was a big one. She always dated musicians and in '68 a DJ on one of the first and foremost progressive non-format radio stations in American. David Phillips had a blues show and his musical tasted educated me greatly as well. When she passed, she had been living in Taos, NM married to the owner of KTAO, another FM station in the forefront of non-commercially induced music. I feel very fortunate to have had the influences I have benefited from musically. Thank you Heather https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...ThJ6WOruhEiNDy https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...Jk62XdCLNdkP0l Heather was a silversmith. A very well respected one. Her work is well sought after. So sad she died so young https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...ojnNirstKzsNVF https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...zfRVFDyE8OC9Qy

Re: What kind of Music do YOU like ? Post it up, Please
Before they sold themselves out in the 80s, Heart was a kick(** band. Sing Child is probably my favorite, the riffs are AWESOME, but they did quite a few nice tunes. Saw quite a few bands back in the day, late 70s. Heart was probably the best show. If I recall John Melencamp opened for them. He gave the worst show I've seen YUCK!

Re: What kind of Music do YOU like ? Post it up, Please
I didn't know abut Mick's "acting" career. His script was as complex as his singing style . Good to see him playing that boogie.
Heart was a really good band. At about the time you described, late-70s, it seemed there was a surge of great new rock that got my attention. It's about the time "all rock" stations broke out. I was real impressed with Molly Hatchet since Southern and country rock had been my mainstay through the mid-70s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTZHHQplIX8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTR13MV4fqc Pat Benatar impressed me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGVZOLV9SPo And this is when Tom Petty caught my attention https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Yai...4C30E74F558910

Re: What kind of Music do YOU like ? Post it up, Please
It's always fun to see which way this thread goes. I was all set to go one way then you go and bring up them Wilson sisters I think they hit about the time I was just leaving high school--'75 ish? I think I have pretty much all their early stuff. This is what we're talkin' about:
https://youtu.be/qVcl0Iw3fs8 https://youtu.be/PeMvMNpvB5M And a little more recently: https://youtu.be/n0b3mfROpJM They can still bring it! I really like this album of Nancy solo. It was something to do with the wrap party after the filming of Almost Famous, where she was music director or whatever: https://youtu.be/Y6zq2n1IrQ8?list=PL...e1xRIanR35KKf- Oh look--her she is again in an iconic scene from Fast Times at Ridgemont High: https://youtu.be/GnejXxT_JUA?list=RDGnejXxT_JUA

I listen to a lot of really offbeat stuff. Some Junior Brown, John Prine , Ian Tyson (Major Canadian Country star) Guy Clark and a lot of Texas artists. Still love the rock from the 60's-70's and Outlaw style country. Not big on commercial tunes.

I haven't carefully gone through all the posts but I like a few of the favorites, Beach Boys, Hollies, Animals, Arron Tippon, Marshal Crenshaw, ELO, Moody Blues, but you guys are really missing the boat. Nobody has mentioned the Traveling Wilburys, I'll bet most people have never heard of them. Check'em out and tell me what you think?
