Re: Dad's 1979 GMC Heavy Half Transformation

We made some progress this evening, Mike came up to work on his truck, and get a little gun time in. We got the core support, and inner fenders shot satin black, and got the back of the hood, the door hinges and bolts, and the front valance painted blue. Good times had by all!

Thanks for the education. I received some excellent mentoring on scuffing, epoxy, base coat and finally had to leave around 0100, returned home at 0430! Well worth it though. Looking at returning on Friday to get schooled again!!

Re: Dad's 1979 GMC Heavy Half Transformation

I got the right door sanded and polished this evening, then put the trim, door handle, and mirror on. Then I spent a little time freshening up the fender emblems with some paint. I'm hoping this evening to get the fenders polished up, and possibly installed if I can get the ac box cleaned up, and installed.

Re: Dad's 1979 GMC Heavy Half Transformation

I got the inside heater box cleaned up, and installed a new heater core, cleaned up the outside heater box, and installed a new evaporator coil, after that I installed them. Kind of a challenge by yourself!

Re: Dad's 1979 GMC Heavy Half Transformation

Progress has been pretty slow for a couple weeks, how dare "life" interfere with truck progress! We were unhappy with the way that the aftermarket trim was fitting, so Mike brought up some nos trim. It fits awesome!
