You're getting so much finished up. Man... 34 hours a week is like working two jobs.

Nice work!

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Well I didn't think I would get out to the shop last night. I got the rear shock mounts made and installed. I used s-10 shocks. They are angled for 2 reasons. With the air bag over top of the axle it makes the rear very stiff with little pressure so I did not want the shocks to have full power. Also that's the only spot they fit lol. Jumping on the frame at ride height seems good.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

I forgot to show this when I put my new steering components on. These are no notch drop tie rods. When aired down the stock ones where hitting the frame hard. These have 1/4" clearance all down. So I can still turn probably 3/4 the way to lock. riding really low.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Today I got the fuel feed line plumed in. I added a T and ball valve to aid in priming my huge fuel filters at the back. Fuel does not return to tank unless injection pump is spinning. ie: motor running or cranking.

Interesting, I've never seen tie rods stepped like that. Where did they come from?

I found them at: silver star customs. They seem like really good quality. Might help give someone here an option.

they look like a cast piece, which makes me think they are an off the shelf tie rod from another vehicle. maybe silverstar changes the taper on like a dodge caravan tie rod?

Thanks

So I was talking to my friend tonight about when we are spraying the truck and how we are going to get it done. I will get all the body pieces finished next week and he will take them to his work and start prepping. Then Oct 30 we are planning to take the truck and spray everything over that weekend. The interior will go '79 gmc charcoal and the rest is flat clear.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

nice, hey if you want something pic worthy. I can send you photos of the inches of snow we got over the weekend (I could have thrown up). Glad to know there are drop tie rods, I'll look into those if I run into that issue.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Today I got the fenders finished up and all the panels loaded in my trailer, ready for prep and paint at my friends work.
A great way to finish cleaning the tar off the inside of the fenders is gas. I tried brake clean and de-greaser nothing seemed to touch it. Little bit of regular gas and a quick wipe done.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Beautiful weather so I got some painting done. Battery boxes, rear bumper went black inside clear out. The scraper wear bars got some paint, hope to put them on tomorrow. I also laid some long strand fiberglass to cover some bad spots in the cab. Here is a pic of how my rear driveshaft hoop turned out.

Thanks!! I'm going with a pair of 850cca with 150(Reserve Capacity) they are 12" long and 45lbs ea. The bat boxes are longer than that because I am putting the compressor relay and some power terminals in there as well. The battery terminals will be below the top of the frame.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Henry it makes me feel much better knowing there is a hoop front and back, having the drive shaft above the floor and everything so tight out back.

Did some more painting up front and got the scraper wear angles on. I bolted on 3/16" angle under the scraper bars front, middle and rear. So when they wear out I just make some new ones.
