Congrats on the top ten! I wish I could make the show to see her in person. If you call Lucy a 20 footer, than my little red 68 is a 100 footer!

Here's a pic of my buddy Keith and his lovely red headed girlfriend rolling through the awards line at Goodguys.

Congratulations on a well deserved "Classic Truck" Top 10 pick.

Congrats in the top 10! It's cool to see truck projects on this board get finished, then get rewarded for the owners efforts (with the help of friends of course).

Hey Keith, thanks again for the shirt and hat and enjoyed hanging out with you and Ken (N2TRUX). Sorry I didn't get to stay to help you guys load up. To those of you who haven't had an opportunity to meet these guys, they are easy going truck lovers like the rest of us was great to meet them and make friends. After seeing your truck Keith and what you want for it, I would buy it in a heartbeat if I had the extra cash laying around. I will check on the 68 fender for you tonight and let you know.

I couldn't understand how or why I burned so fast on Sat.

Then.... I found out the medication I had been taking since Wednesday was what cooked me (it makes you sensitive to direct sunlight). Doh!

I wondered what happened to you. I guess you got my voice mail. You missed out on a great lunch. The food was bad, but the conversation was great...

Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style

They should post the top 10 in about a month or so...... I finally got out of work at a decent time today so I headed out to the shop and unloaded the truck. After checking for leaks and other problems I thought I would gas it up and take it for a spin and see if any gremlins would pop up. Well it made it to the station without any problems so I thought what the hey, I built it to drive so I keep going, made it to a little local parking lot show and then loaded up and keep driving. I found out a few things in my little adventure tonight. 1) The power glide really misses the kickdown that I removed and tossed to the trash so I manually shift it without any problems, 2) 50 is all she will go before I get real uncomfortable, it's screaming for another gear in the worst kind of way (I'm looking into overdrives tomorrow to see what I will have to sale to get one. Other than that she seems to be running alot better than I had expected for all the "deleted" parts she now runs without. Tomorrow I'm driving it to work to show all my co-workers. At any rate, I'm shocked by the number of people that have took the time to read the post that Ken started for me. I can honestly say that without my friends and this forum Lucy would still be sitting in the warehouse, I cannot thank everyone enough......I'm still going to be adding "stuff" to this truck but I'm going to really focus on the "other" 68 so my boy can have a beater to cruise in when he can get me out of the seat : )

Congrats on the results. If anyone has a sec to fill in on the '85 Pontiac Fiero booster, particularly I'd like to know specs on the mounting bracket - was it an original that was modded (if so, how?), or was it a stock pickup bracket that was redrilled to fit the Fiero booster?

In regards to this post: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...8&postcount=93

Thanks guys, and good luck w/the sale (if it goes through )

Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style

Shifty- I am in the process of doing this myself. I have the booster/MC in a box, just lookin' for the time to do it.

From what I have gathered/observed, you will need to lengthen the rod ~1". I'm thinking cut it in half, use a die to cut some threads on both sides and use an internal all-thread rod to extend it.

You will also need to make the bracket work. It will need material added to the top for the two upper holes and drilled for the two lower. I'm exploring the possibility of flipping the booster upside down to avoid adding material.

As for using the truck bracket- the bracket is riveted to the back of the booster on the Fiero unit. They appear to be sealed. I'm not too keen on drilling into $150 worth of new parts just to experiment.

If you have column shift, you will run into interference with the shift rod. I have moved my column forward and have a Lokar shift rod to install to give the clearance needed.

Maybe I will write an FAQ on this if it goes well...
