Re: What did you do to your truck today!

This weekend i installed exhaust manifolds, hooked up exhaust pipes. Installed starter and wired starter and new mallory distributor and coil. finished hooking up brake lines and installing new master cyllinder. Talked to a friend and decided to go with a later alternator with the voltage regulator within. We are thinking about a 1978 or 80 alternator should do it. The rear drive shaft was installed and now I am waiting for a delivery from LMC to finish cab and exterior lights. I purchased a nos rubber mat on ebay a while ago and come to find out it is a low hump mat and I need a high hump floor mat. I will need to sell the one I sold. Sorry for running on, but much was done and I will post pictures soon.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Working on a budget... Was able to save the drivers inner fender and support by cutting out the rust and fabbing in some metal. Started on the rear wheel also with help from a donor. Thought it turned out ok considering. Saved some cash too..

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I did the best looking mod for my engine yet. Installed the core support covers. Replaced my stereo.

Truck is almost done. Need to waterproof it a bit more and thats about it. During the summer im going to repaint a few small areas that only seem to bug me. lol. Now if it would stop raining 24 hours a day 7 days a week. damn.

Thumbs up Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Made some more progress on my 200-4r install today.
Would of finished and started Pressure testing, but I found that my "new" drive-shaft is 1" to short.
Sure it would move the truck, but the slip yoke is out 1.5" and I'm not willing to take any chances.
So I will dop it off to get re-tubed & balanced tomorrow.
Current drive shaft length 60" need to be 61". (this is just the shaft not including the slip yoke.)

This is what I DID get done today.

Finished plumbing cooling lines

Installed the TV made EZ kit

Installed the brake pedal lock up release switch

Installed and calibrated the Trans dipstick tube

Installed and calibrated custom shift linkage

Installed the trans temp gauge.

Full details will be in my Photo build thread

Photo Build Thread - Page 2

Sneak peak images....

It was a productive day.......

Finally painted my kick panels and speaker grills.. Hopefully I'll install them next week after I install another amp

Also washed both of the garage tenants and put them away.. We have a storm coming and the neighbors were looking at me weird because as I was drying them it started to sprinkle

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Drove it to work after spending the last 6 months making it a short box. Woo Hoo! Alignment (Les Schwab) Friday and exhaust (Jeff @ Dan Fast) Saturday. OK I guess "I" didn't do that to it but I've done everything else!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Couple of days behind here, took it out for a drive Sunday afternoon had a hole in the radiator so had to stop and give it a drink a couple times. Monday afternoon swapped out the bad radiator for a good one from one of my parts trucks. I love working on these trucks, half an hour from drain to refill! It was such a nice evening, my wife and I washed it today, got all the mud and mold scrubbed off. That 70 GMC bumper I installed that had been stored since 1970 shined up so nice! I didn't think to take a pic, but all the colors look much nicer now! LOL

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Drove all over getting supplies for a friend. Go to leave and she won't start. horn works. Fuel pump comes on. Not even a click from the starter. Posting over on electrical to see what might be suspect. I'm guessing I burned a wire on the headers, but I guess maybe the starter switch could be the culprit.

Picked up a 4l80e trans. Why do people never drain old oil from engine or trans before pulling them? I used a cherry picker to get it out. This sucker is heavy.
