Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

Here are a few pics of our family member. Purchased new in 1983 in southern Va. Been garage kept most of its life. 160k on original 305. Motor swap is in the future. We recently added Boss 338 rims 9.5 x 18 at all 4 corners and did a 4 in drop front and rear, McGauphys 13" big brake upgrade and spindles, true duals and it sounds really good for a small displacement motor. Thanks for looking.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

295/45/18 Hankooks. I should have probably gone with the staggered rims and it would have cleared a little better with a narrower tire in the front. I was thinking about being able to rotate etc, but who cares about that anymore.

Wow man. That wheel tire combo looks great! I think you just changed my mind about wheel size. I was going to go with 20's but I may have to reconsider now.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

Thanks, they are 15x10's no offense to anyone running the 20's I'm just getting tired of seeing these older trucks with tires and wheels worth more than the truck itself. There are some that look great with them ... Some..

....edit. Didn't see the reference to Malibu when I posted. Damn phones

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

We are very happy with the 18s". I wanted the somewhat taller sidewall. Both to help with ride quality and to fill in the fenders. N2trux has 20"s on his and I like the combo of hi stance w/ the larger rims. We didn't want to get too crazy and felt the 18"s were a nice step up from the stock rims and also helped on tire selection and cost. They ride nice and pleased overall with the combonation.

thanks 78! i only wish the guy that had it before took more time with the paint. he had some over spray on the white cause he was going to put the molding back on. i would prefer not to have it but im kinda stuck doing it now with the over spray. oh and the holes

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

Well you could put the stock chrome trim on it or some of the newer black tim with chrome stripe. don't know if you would like that, heres a pic of the newer 88+ trim on my old 87. I liked it on mine.

You would just have to buy a roll of the stuff and cut it to fit yourself, and not get a pre cut kit.

one of the local salvage yard guys that was salivating over it last week while looking for parts said he's seen some with newer model (2000 and newer) molding on there. i'd like to explore my options with all trim that would fit since im going to have to put something on there.

i'd like to stick with all chrome too

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

I don't know which ones, but check out car trim too. Anything you can buy by the rolls would be a simple install. the precut stuff can work, but it takes a little creativity and may waste some more material than you'd like.
